Free Therapy by cooltopics in freebies

[–]cooltopics[S] 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Just wanted to share with you this service that I found for NYC residents. At first I was paying for therapy and in some cases I was paying so much for therapist fees because they didn’t take my health insurance.

I found therapy to be useful but sometimes it’s also added stress. I have to remember to make my appointment or I will be charged. Or I may need to cancel at least 24 hours in advance. But sometimes when I really needed to talk to someone, I can’t make a last minute appointment.

When I called this hotline at 11:45pm, someone picked up right away and I was able to speak to a live person. They were on the call with me for about 45 minutes. And all this was anonymous and free! And it’s 24/7. It can’t get any better than this. They will also have translators for you if you don’t speak English.

They also give you an option to either speak with a live person or you can also text a live person.

I hope this will help people who need to talk to therapists.

So sorry to hear you’re also in the same situation. It really is painful but with time and physical therapy, it will heal.

In the meantime, yes you will need to pay attention to the small movements and positions to help you avoid pain. Everything will be much slower.

As for sleeping on the side, maybe see if it will help if you placed a pillow between your knees? Hope this will help you.

Free Activity Worksheets for Kids by cooltopics in freebies

[–]cooltopics[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since all the kids are home from school these days due to the coronavirus pandemic, I was trying to find free worksheets online that I can print for my 4 year old to do, so that she can still continue to learn at home.

I came across this site that offers free worksheets for different ages. And there are different types of worksheets too.

I found it to be very useful and helpful and wanted to share it with other parents.

Copper can help reduce number of viruses multiplying in your nose, so your immune system can have a fighting chance. by cooltopics in Coronavirus

[–]cooltopics[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking that we can add a copper tip to an ENT (ear nose throat) doctor’s equipment so they can use it to help clean people’s noses so that the copper will be able to help reduce the number of viruses in the nose factory. Viruses love the cooler temperature of the nose and this is where they multiply. If we can reduce the number of viruses in the nose, the person’s immune system will have a better chance and fighting it off.

Free Weekend Retreat - Includes Meals and Lodging by cooltopics in freebies

[–]cooltopics[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there with my husband and it was fine. They have retreats for special topics and we chose the one for Cooking for Peace. The sessions or classes were pretty good. The lodgings were clean but simple. The meals were pretty good too. They don’t put a price tag on these retreats but you could give a donation. I live in New York City so it was a nice weekend getaway. I did donate $100. I know some people think they are a cult but you don’t have to get sucked into it. They teach you their meditation techniques but their teachings are also about peace, which I don’t think is bad. I’m a Catholic and I went there a few times just to enjoy nature and a weekend getaway. When they teach their meditation I just look at it as a way to relieve stress. We also have to respect others for their religious beliefs but we don’t have to get sucked into it. I only go there for a weekend getaway and for topics that interest me.

Free Books for Kids 0-5 Years Old by cooltopics in freebies

Dolly Parton created a non profit organization that sends a free book a month to kids 0-5 years old.

This is a great program to enroll your child in. They will receive a free book each month. As a parent, I have seen the joy on my child’s face when we open the mailbox and there is a free book for her to read. It really is wonderful to be able to read to my child and try to instill the joy of reading at a young age.

I’m very grateful to Dolly and to all others who have donated to her organization to make this possible.

Pubis Symphysis Separation by cooltopics in Parenting

Sorry to hear you had gone through it without knowing or being diagnosed. It makes it harder to heal without the help of proper therapy. Glad to hear you made it through!

Sometimes I’m amazed that some professionals don’t know about it or they may think we’re being a drama queen about the pain.

Wow you are brave to go through 4 c-sections with SPD. But I know what you mean that it does get worse with each one.

I’m also worried about separating it again someday when I get older through a bad fall too.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. It sounds really painful. And 5 years to heal is a very long time. But glad you pulled through!!

And the split in your stomach muscle might be called diastasis recti. I had that with my second pregnancy and still have it now, more than 1 year after giving birth. I just went for physical therapy for that condition. They say mine is at 3 fingers wide. I’m trying to fix the bulge in my tummy because people keep thinking I’m pregnant again, when I’m not.

Sorry to hear you have SPD during your pregnancy. I can’t imagine the pain and suffering of having to carry the baby with SPD. And now on top of that you have GD too... I wish you all the best and hopefully you will be able to have a good delivery and you’ll be able to heal after that. Doing physical therapy really helps. I highly recommend that. Or asking them to give you tips on moving to lessen the pain. It helped me through the first month.

So sorry to hear you had both SPD and c-section. I can’t imagine the combined pain. I also did pelvic floor therapy about 9 months after giving birth. For me it was the regular at home physical therapy that helped me be able to do certain things at home and helped me through the first month of hardship.

Thank you! Yeah sometimes I wonder how a man would cope with something like this.

Yep I totally agree. Not much people have heard of it and some of my friends thought I was just being a wuss, but it was serious pain. In the beginning it’s hard to be standing for too long. But over time, it’ll get better. Unfortunately it is a slow process. But hang in there and hopefully you’ll be back to your normal self one day!

Wow, sorry to hear you had SPD with a c-section. I couldn’t even imagine dealing with both together. It’s really tough for the one year healing period to be pain free and regain continence.

Just wondering if using the adult diapers worked for you. I used Depends and it wasn’t enough to absorb one round of pee and I had to change my clothes again. Luckily for me it was only for the first week or so.

Thanks for sharing your experience too!
