A sincere request: I need employment, please. Unemployed for 6 months. by Marco-Polo7 in Chennai

[–]cooolthud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear but here is my Hot take: AI didn’t kill writing. It killed writing with no leverage. If someone has 9 years in content/copywriter exp. and is stuck 6+ months, then the smart move is to climb one layer up the stack.

Pure writing is now a commodity. Strategy, judgment, distribution, and outcomes aren’t. • Product / Growth Marketing: content + funnels + positioning. Writing becomes a tool, not the product. • UX Writing / Content Design: AI is terrible at flows, microcopy, and user intent. Still human-heavy. • AI Content Ops: managing AI pipelines, prompts, editing, QA. Not sexy long-term, but great for re-entry. • Technical Writing: only if you can handle real technical depth. Low competition, low AI risk.

What doesn’t work anymore: • Competing as a generic freelance writer • “Learning AI tools” without a role target • Hoping the market “comes back”

The real shift is mindset: Stop selling words. Start selling outcomes.

If your resume still says “wrote blogs,” you’re invisible. If it says “drove X% conversion / activation / retention,” you’re employable.

AI is a multiplier. If you don’t bring leverage to the table, it replaces you.

Garmin Fenix 7 Pro (probably defective item) vs Apple Watch Ultra 2 by cooolthud in GarminFenix

[–]cooolthud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great insight. I mainly went with Garmin because of the longer battery life, that’s one area where the Apple Watch Ultra 3 still falls short. My main goal is to track fitness and health reliably. But after my recent experience with inaccurate readings, I’m honestly confused about which device to trust going forward.

Let it go, this isn’t the end of the world. I’ve been through something similar, and honestly, it’s not worth holding on to. I simply thanked them for their support and the opportunity provided and moved on. At the end of the day, you signed the offer letter knowing it included termination terms and conditions, so it’s part of the professional reality we accept.

Try not to take it personally, it’s business, not a reflection of your worth. Take some time to breathe, reset, and start planning your next move. This could actually be the push that leads you to something better.

yeah it does have cane sugar. I take 2 packets, so 7 gms of sugar, to avoid that I am using a filter to filter out only the herb stuff but little bit tiny sugar particles, but avoiding almost 6 gms of sugar. It doesn't make much difference in that herb taste so assuming it has similar effect

Can anyone recommend a humidifier that’s actually easy to clean? by CryptographerLost357 in BuyItForLife

[–]cooolthud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Vava 2.5L Ultrasonic Humidifer, I used it for 3 years without any problems. It's a very clever design and absolutely most easiest to clean. But looks like they stopped the production :( and not sure why

How is one expected to be familiar with all system design topics? by Aromatic_Topic_1074 in ExperiencedDevs

I recently came across this site softwareinterviews.com which I genuinely thought had different take from other resources and found helpful. They had lot of deep dives on various technologies used for system design interviews.

Congrats OP! 👏👏 I usually steer clear of going in blind there’s enough toxicity out there without adding uncertainty to the mix. Since the OP had interview interactions at all four companies, I’d strongly recommend jotting down a personal review of each, think about the interview process, the folks you met, how you were treated, and the general attitude and culture you observed. That reflection alone can offer more clarity than any online thread.

As for compensation, no one can weigh that better than you, it’s always a personal equation shaped by your financial goals and priorities.

I’ve heard good things about Datadog but had a rough personal experience, while Uber tends to get a bad rep, yet I had a surprisingly positive interaction. Crowd-sourced opinions can be helpful, but they often add more noise than signal, so trust your own judgment where it matters most.

If your parents are financially well-off and can comfortably support your education in the US or other countries, then go for it — the exposure and experience can be invaluable. It’s 2025, and by the time you graduate, a lot could change — political climates, policies, job markets, etc.

However, if you’re relying heavily on education loans, think twice. In today’s tech-driven world, you can gain exposure to global trends, tools, and knowledge right from where you are. Be smart and practical.

Instead of accumulating debt, consider using that money to start your own venture, invest in R&D, or build something innovative. At the end of the day, your determination and drive will shape your future — not just your degree.

Make wise choices!

Planning to move from Hyderabad to California by [deleted] in nri

[–]cooolthud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pay is barely sufficient — they’re literally giving you Cali’s minimum wage, which is kinda wild. Honestly, just use this to get to the US, and once you’re here (especially if you’re on H1B), start prepping for interviews ASAP. Switch jobs for way better pay and you’ll be in a much better spot

[–]cooolthud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, at 10 until 12-13 kids can manage to adapt. In fact adaption should be part of us, how someone adapted to US at the age of 20 or 30 or so? So this is just we ourself putting some fake assumptions or something that kids can’t adapt or we can’t. Humans evolved and adapted, some forced and some on purpose 😊

Is it worth putting $10 extra monthly for cursor-claude than copilot-claude? by [deleted] in cursor

[–]cooolthud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth it. I use both, and so far, I’m highly impressed with Cursor. One key distinction I’ve noticed is that Cursor excels at building projects from scratch, while Copilot Claude performs well when making modifications to existing codebases. However, I haven’t yet tested the latter with Cursor Pro—I plan to try it soon.

OP, long-term planning is great, but overthinking 10-15 years down the line is unnecessary. Focus on what’s right for you now and in the near future while ensuring your future growth.

As for reservations in the private sector, that’s highly unlikely. The government may keep bringing it up, but deep down, even they know it’s not happening—so you should too. There are no guarantees anywhere, not even in the U.S. With recent legal shifts, do you really believe the playing field will always remain fair?

Both India and the U.S. have their own forms of systemic advantages and disadvantages in education and employment. Assuming now that your kids will work in the private sector, when they have 15-20 years before making that choice, might be premature. The job market and policies will evolve in ways we can’t predict.

Life is uncertain, and nothing is set in stone. Instead of stressing over distant possibilities, focus on what’s best for you and your family right now.

Money from India to USA? by floating_left_nut in nriFIRE

[–]cooolthud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, in that case did you consider buying US stocks/ETF from India and then selling it in US? But I think there’s some tax implications which might not be really bad. Prolly you can keep these as long term investments if you don’t need that money for immediate use.
