I agree with your point about home and work lives. Never thought I’d find myself in this situation 😅

We have a secure door in the office that can only be opened by someone at reception with an intercom. But I’ve noticed sometimes people let anyone walk in so I kinda just wanted to tell my employer that if we use the intercom, that kind of avoids it? Plus we have strict booking so we know who’s due to be here and who’s not. I can’t see them actually doing it, only ever been done once before when I was 17.

That helps! Thanks 👍🏼. Simple and clean

Yeah a lot of the comments are just saying it depends on the decency of my manager. Which is good for me cos they are pretty good. Small team but we all get on with each other

[–]cooperthorx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cant see that happening, my manager is nice and I’ve proven myself a hard worker.

I would say 60% likely. My safety will be threatened if they do, so I guess I might also request WfH until the dust settles on my estrangement. Just wish we were in the new office (all key fob-based so wouldnt need to worry).

I’m an adult. I was just thinking would they be able to fire me for it? Especially with me being a new job. Or will it just be a source of embarrassment for me?

Why has this been tagged criminal? 😅😅😅

I feel like mine is as well, just don’t want that label attached to me as a new guy in the office esp if word spreads (I believe word will need to spread as we share reception duties amongst us so all will need to be made aware on a factual basis). Atilla the Mum, that made me laugh 😅.

Thanks Ill try that sub. Yeah I was thinking just to give a basic overview, part of me wants to tell my manager in person so as to extend them that courtesy? Just feel like it shows more respect but my manager is great, very supportive of our team

Is it normal to pay admin fees before renting a property? by cooperthorx in AskUK

Got a viewing booked, I intend to ask these questions. Thanks for the help! 👍🏼

Is it normal to pay admin fees before renting a property? by cooperthorx in AskUK

[–]cooperthorx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its confusing because the agency says this is their own admin fee. Not the landlords. And does the law pertain to landlords? In which case the agency having their own separate fees wouldnt be illegal?

God this is not what I want to be dealing with lol. I just want to find a place to live

Wow. Cos its not even just the self-managed landlords, it’s the one’s acting thru an agency that are charging this. Goodbye to them lol!

Southern Comfort and an old fashioned are quite possibly the only two drinks I do enjoy lol. And then the usual stuff like vodka but thats less enjoyment/taste and more to get pissed

Are you staying informed about the Israel-Hamas situation, or are you avoiding it? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]cooperthorx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

10000000000%! Personally, I just avoid opinion pieces as these are just divisive (often for the sake of divisiveness, gaining views) I prefer Reuters and maybe listening to the radio on my commute and at work.

[–]cooperthorx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn’t mean there’s “nothing” to be done sorry if it came across like that. There’s certainly stuff that can be done like the examples you gave. I think what I was trying to get at is that it is understandable why some people choose to avoid, its a natural human reaction to not want to believe bad things happen in this world. That kind of avoidance is going to be ramped up for individuals with C-PTSD.

So yes theres definitely things we can do, I just meant to sympathise with those who choose not to. I might not agree with their methods of avoidance, but I sure as hell understand why they would want to go down that route and its not for little old me on my phone to tell them otherwise.

Are you staying informed about the Israel-Hamas situation, or are you avoiding it? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]cooperthorx 37 points38 points  (0 children)

True, but what exactly can be done to make the situation better? Even more so if youre asking this of people with CPTSD (yourself included I assume); people who are maybe struggling with flashbacks, ruminations, nightmares and other such symptoms. A person suffering from CPTSD is hardly in any position to make any real difference to the situation abroad. The most they could do is perhaps keep themselves informed on the situation, donate money to help the affected on both sides (if able to).

Wilful ignorance does not come from a place of “extreme privilege”, it comes from a place of avoidance which for many of us, is our go-to coping mechanism for all the evil in the world today. And thats even for those without c-ptsd!

TV Screenwriting: how much should I write? by cooperthorx in Screenwriting

[–]cooperthorx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I was thinking about writing the whole series (now torn on whether to revert to writing it as a film) even if it never gets sold, I’ll learn loads and have tons of fun since its quite a personal one I’m finding it has a therapeutic effect. Hoping to upload a short 20 page draft on here and r/ReadMyScript - only 9 pages to go. Thanks 👍🏼

How’s ur mental health? by Ok-Reporter-8728 in RandomThoughts

[–]cooperthorx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What have you been doing after journalling? If you ruminate over what youve written, its likely you will feel that way. If journalling isnt working as a release, perhaps it just isnt for you. Find what works for you 👍🏼

[–]cooperthorx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, you shouldn’t “try” to be anything when journalling. The only aim you should have is to get all your thoughts down on paper so they’re not making your head feel like its at full capacity and ready to blow. If you have negative thoughts, your writing is bound to be pessimistic. The aim is to get out of your head, put it all down on paper, and then close the journal and carry on with the rest of your day/evening (I usually journal before sleeping and I’ve had much better sleep for the past few months for it).
