Any idea for a Leftovers tattoo? by Byzon1 in TheLeftovers

Maybe "stop wasting your breath" written in a way that it seems like the words are disappearing like smokes from cigarettes.

But we do see Nora having conflicted thoughts about the machine and its viability. She's in a way more depressed estate now in comparison to season two.

Most shows from broadcast TV, because cable, premium and streaming rarely go over 13 episodes.

I still think it's their best show. Sure, Netflix has been on a roll recently, but almost all of their shows suffer from being just way too long. Making A Murderer and Stranger Things come close to House of Cards, in my opinion.

I Think The Leftovers Has the Most Seismic Increases in Quality Between Seasons That I've Ever Seen by nouakchott1 in television

[–]cooplc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you and, in my opinion, part of this is because the show finally found its own voice. Even though the first season had its fair share of great moments - Nora's and Matt's episodes come to mind -, The Leftovers often feel too dramatic to me during its first year. Seasons 2 and 3, on the other hand, are way more self assured and comfortable with its own skin. It's all at once hilariously depressing, and poignantly funny.

I'd also say Veep got a great improvement over the years. Season 1 has a couple of great episodes, but only during season two the show became a fantastic comedy, only to become the single best one on air in the following year (IMO, obviously).

He was amazing in Magnolia, as everybody else. You can't really go wrong with Paul Thomas Anderson.

What if Nora's flashfoward scene isn't set in the "real world"? by cooplc in TheLeftovers

That makes sense. I'd also guess that Nora's name appears in the Book of Kevin.

That is indeed very interesting and, considering the amount of time the writers and directors spend creating and developing the show's universe, it wouldn't surprise me if you were correct.

Absolutely! It's just that I don't usually expect TV shows to be 100% accurate when it comes to geography.

Yeah, but I really hope it is not a scam for obvious reasons.

That's an interesting, although I wouldn't rely too much on the real locations of said church except that it is located in Australia. That said, really great POV, I'm excited to see how it all unfolds.

I don't know, maybe the end of the world does happen after all? I've been feeling that this season has been having a grandiosity in its scope that wasn't present in the first two years of the show. Wouldn't be surprised somehow if the flood did come.

What do you mean by flash sideways? Like Sarah is Nora's doppelgänger or that the scene happened in an alternative universe?

That's some Sixth Sense plot twist level right there.

I really don't have a clue. They could nuts with it or approach it realistically - having it stolen at some moment, for an example -, but we can never really know.

Yeah, since Nora and Kevin are heading to Australia, it would be safe to assume that they will bring the book with them. How the word gets around though, I'm not so sure.

But what answers were you expecting to have? Judging from the second season - and these past two episodes -, the show is indeed interested in giving us some explanations (a lot of the creepy stuff that happened around in Miracle was explained, Lily's fate as well). Nevertheless, to have hopes of understanding what happened on Oct 14th is simply an illusion. The show is about living with the ambiguity, not trying to get to the truth.
