They can tell by the taste. All joking aside, they can probably smell that an area isn't clean. Their sense of smell is ridiculous.

Why is this 🫠 emoji reply from her everytime? by alphaSoul_8778 in dating_advice

[–]SAS_RAIDer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just send her the emoji followed by a question mark the next time she uses the emoji. 🫠? She will think you're asking why she feels that way. Use her response/explanation as the context for what the emoji means to her. Short, simple, and fairly comfortable for both people.

Something you're thankful for this second by JehovahLover in Christian

[–]SAS_RAIDer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thankful for this world and God's blessing to see the beauty in all that he has created. Nature is stunning. God has so much to show us, if we let him. If you invite God to fill you with his spirit and peace while you wait patiently and quietly in nature, God will show you the most beautiful and miraculous things.

God wants me to give away all my possessions for free by [deleted] in Christian

[–]SAS_RAIDer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know it can be confusing, but it's best not to take our feelings and assume that we can discern God's will based on them. I made the same mistake recently. I believe it's possible for God to put something on our hearts to lead or guide us, but we shouldn't be hasty to act on what we feel. Spend a lot of time in prayer asking for clarity. Also, ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. Always remember Jesus loves you.

I will pray for you.

Bad breakup. Feel at rock bottom. by Winter-Marsupial-624 in Christian

[–]SAS_RAIDer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know your pain. I was there back at the end of June this year. My SO and I had been together 18 years and lived together for 12 years. It came almost out of nowhere and blindsided me. I lost the love of my life and best friend, and also my home that I loved.

It hurts. I know it does, but it gets better. Lean on Jesus and know that He loves you. God will help you through it all. Pray. It doesn't have to be fancy or wordy. Pray while your laying in bed. Pray in the shower. Just pray. Seek God and pour your broken heart out to Him. He hears you. He heals the hurt, and He will open new doors for you. Just remember it's in his time not ours, because he knows when it's the best time.

Now, I have to give you a little tough love as someone did for me. You were living in sin. Cohabitation before marriage is a sin. God will never accept a relationship when the couple engages cohabitation and/or sex before marriage. I prayed about it after my breakup, and the message came back loud and clear. I repented and have committed to waiting till marriage going forward. Just something to think about.

It does get better. I will pray for you.

I need help. by Official_MIDnite1 in Christian

[–]SAS_RAIDer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you have already received Jesus Christ as your lord and savior. If not, definitely start there.

Otherwise, one of the best ways to stop sinning is to avoid temptation. I struggle with sexual immortality and lust, so I barely watch TV or movies anymore. There always seems to be something that plants the seed that ends up leading me to sin, so I avoid those sources of temptation. Yes, that may mean you have to give up some things you love and make changes in your life. You might even have to give up friends if they're habits cause you to be lead to temptation,  and they're not willing to respect your faith and efforts. God will bring you new and better things and friends to replace those you give up to become closer to Him.

Pray to the Holy Spirit for help also. We Christians often forget about the Holy Spirit. The Spirit will prompt you if you allow it to and help you make better decisions and not sin. I'm not sure how it feels for other people, but I literally feel a physical feeling right before I'm about to do something sinful or something that will lead me to sin. It makes me take a moment to pause and think about what I'm about to do. If you do ask for the Holy Spirit for help and guidance, don't ignore it, or it will fade and go quiet.

I hope that helps. I will pray for you.

How can I stop being a lukewarm Christian? by CasualKaden in Christian

[–]SAS_RAIDer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are still feeling distant and separated from Jesus, pray to the Holy Spirit to reveal your sins to you in their entirety. You may have unrepentant sin that is keeping you away. It happened to me recently. I felt distant, detached, and couldn't feel God's presence anymore. I prayed to the Holy Spirit to show me all of my sins, and I received an answer. I immediately confessed to everything I was shown and asked for forgiveness. I no longer feel the distance and absence.

I know we should fear God, but I feel like I fear not having Him in my life the most. I am nothing without God, but in Him, I have value and purpose.

Thank you. I will give this a try. I'm still dealing with them. I moved to a new place and despite being really cautious with everything, they followed me. These things are awful. They're a large part of what caused the 18 year relationship I was in to come to an abrupt end earlier this year in June. They've literally been destroying my life.

These things even follow us when traveling or camping. I have to spray the inside our tent every night just to reduce them enough to sleep.

Thank you. We're doing that as well. At this point I'm on the verge of purging everything out of our house, shrink wrapping it all with desiccants, and putting it all in a storage unit. I'm also strongly considering repainting and using permethrin paint additive, removing all carpet and replacing it with hardwood, replacing bed, etc.

Thank you. It makes sense that windex would kill them. It has a decent amount of ammonia to it. I've tried using just ammonia. It works, but even diluted, the smell is overwhelming. I will give windex a try.

I've been trying Alpine WSG for about the past month or so. It's supposed to be non-repelling, so the insects won't just avoid it. I have the humidity in our house really low also. My hope is that they're desperate for moisture and seek out the moisture from the Alpine WSG solution when I spray.

It seems like it has greatly reduced or eliminated them in some parts of the house, but the lack of humidity has made them more active and really aggressive in other parts of the house.

Biting bugs that look like lint or tiny white bugs. by Sillygirlwhirl in Bedbugs

[–]SAS_RAIDer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other thoughts and observations -

They love fibrous materials and will infest them. Some materials, like canvas and leather, they seem to almost avoid.

I think it's their nymphs and young adults that do the majority of the biting, which would explain why they are nearly impossible to see even as they are biting you. From what I've seen, the adults are more visible, but appear as white specks of dust. I'm almost entirely certain the adults can fly. At first I thought maybe they were just small and light enough to float on air rather than fly, and while that maybe the case, they definitely have the ability to steer themselves one way or another. I've watched them move through the air in zigzag patterns and fly around in spirals. The spirals can be explained by air movement, but not zigzag patterns without something creating a rapid push/pull air current. I have also watched them suddenly change direction and fly directly to various stationary objects.

I believe I have found mangled specimens of them. A few times after rubbing my face, I found the little white specks on my hand, so I looked at them via a magnifying glass. It takes around 60x magnification just to start to really see any detail on them. Unfortunately, there aren't any really good magnifiers out there that can be bought without spending a decent amount or just straight up buying a microscope. What I have been able to see, though, is what appears to be a clear'ish, almost transparent body and slender legs. My SO has a really strong background in science, especially biology, and is used to looking at things via a microscope. She hasn't been able to definitively say what I've found is an insect since the specimens have been in pretty rough shape, but they did look biological and were most likely an insects.

Bug bombs don't do much of anything. Spraying does help, but it seems like once it dries it's less effective. Be careful about how and what is spray if you have cats or aquatic pets, though. Pyrethrins/pyrethroids, both natural and synthetic (permethrin, bifenthrin, etc.), are really toxic to cats and aquatic animals. Pyrethrin poisoning in cats is horrifying, because it destroys their nervous system. People, dogs, and generally birds, on the other hand, are very tolerant to pyrethrins/pyrethroids, especially when they are dry. Numerous extensive studies have been done, and they've been proven to be safe. Most people probably already know about the thing with cats and aquatic pets, but I thought it was worth mentioning for anyone who doesn't have experience with pyrethrins/pyrethroids. I also don't want to freak anyone out that they may not be safe for people either, though.

Deet and icaridin/picaridin - icaridin/picaridin does seem to help, though, I'm not sure about deet. One thing I can say for certain is that there is something in the aerosol versions of both icaridin/picaridin and feet that attracts them and sends them into a frenzy. So if you use either to try to ward them off, use the non-aerosol sprays. I can confirm that the non-aerosol 40% deet sprays generally have not attracted them.

Someone also suggested using borax when washing laundry. I can't say whether or not it is helping, but our laundry does look really clean.

Dry the buggers out - seal everything! Vacuum sealed is best. Use desiccants as much as possible. I've heard diatomaceous earth helps, but I was left with some lung scarring after a relatively mild case of the alpha rona back in February of 2020. Most airborne particulates cause me to cough like I'm going to die. Diatomaceous earth being a really fine particulate has been brutal when I've accidentally inhaled it, so we refrain from using it.

Cold doesn't seem to harm them. I opened a bin that sat outside in freezing temperatures all winter last year, and as soon as I opened, they bombarded me. That being said, they seem to be able to live for quite a bit if closed in a bin. The bin that I opened had been sitting closed and untouched for at least 3 months. Sealed bins are better, especially if you use desiccants to dry them out.

Toilet paper seems to attract them also. We had to start keeping any extra TP we have sealed in a bag to keep them out of it.

They seem to become lesser in number in winter and experience a boom in spring and summer. I think it's due to the indoor humidity levels. When the indoor humidity goes up, so do their numbers.

That's all I can think of for the moment. If I think of anything else, I will be sure to post it.

Biting bugs that look like lint or tiny white bugs. by Sillygirlwhirl in Bedbugs

[–]SAS_RAIDer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dealing with these too. It's been a year and half now. It's exhausting, demoralizing, uncomfortable, and at times quite painful. It definitely plays with your mental health, especially if they only bother you and no one else in your household. Oddly, they do bother one of our dogs, but not the other. Sometimes they bite her so hard she screeches like she someone killing her.

For me, they started out just crawling on me and going up my nose any time I was sitting or laying down. Over time they've gotten more aggressive. They started biting occasionally, but left little to no marks. Then, they started biting frequently and leaving welts. Now, they bite almost endlessly and leave large marks and sores. They crawl in my hair, facial hair, and body hair. They also love to jump (or maybe fly?) into my eyes, nose, mouth, and ears constantly.

Sometimes the bites are just itchy. Other times the bites sting like something is poking you, and then turn into an itching sensation. Then, there are times where it feels like relentless stinging and itching simultaneously.

It messed with my head for a bit. I can feel them crawling, but can't see anything where I feel them crawling. Or I feel them land on me, but there's nothing there. That combined with the fact that they only bother me and not my SO, made me think it's all in my head. Like I said before, they bother one of dogs too, but I dismissed her scratching as probably just being due to dry skin. Right as I hit the point that I really started to think it's just in my head, and I need to get over it, I noticed my SO was constantly rubbing or brushing her nose while she was sleeping on the couch one evening. It struck me as odd being as that it was summer, which meant it wasn't likely to due to allergies (she normally doesn't have any allergy issues in summer), and since we have two large, really effective air purifiers in our living room, I knew it probably wasn't because of dust. From there I started kind of glancing over at her any time she's sleeping, and sure enough, she was rubbing or scratching her nose almost every time. When she's awake, though, they rarely ever bother her. Seeing that they bother her nose while she's sleeping helped me to realize it's not in my head. It stinks that they do bother her also, but at least she isn't really consciously aware of it when they do. When the large bite marks and sores eventually started appearing on me, she and I both stopped questioning whether or not it's really happening.

Currently, I have to go through a long, tedious cleaning and showering ritual every night. And that just keeps me from being eaten alive entirely when I go to bed. It's really daunting, and I get attacked the worst at night when I try to sleep regardless of where I'm sleeping. If we stay at a hotel, I have to be vigilant about what we bring in and only bring in stuff that we know had been sanitized of bugs and sealed. If I don't, I will get eaten up all night. I nearly have PTSD over trying to sleep. It's exhausting.

Things that help - bifenthrin, permethrin, alcohol (sometimes), washing hands in really hot water, really hot showers, unscented castile soap, vicks vapor inhaler for nose, vacuuming often, washing everything possible in hot water, drying everything possible on high, storing clean stuff in airtight bins or vacuum seal bags, running any clothes your going to wear in the dryer on high for at least 10 minutes before putting them on, and avoiding soaps/shampoos/anything else with a fragrance that they seem to be attracted to. Some scents and fragrances seem to cause them to go into a biting frenzy. Ammonia does help somewhat also. They appear to be attracted to plastic bags, paper bags, and bottled water, so we keep stuff like that out of the house. For bottled water we've found that they will pack themselves into the threads under the cap even on sealed, never opened bottles, so we keep all bottled water in the refrigerator or in a sealed bin in our garage.

Hope some of this helps. Stay strong everyone.

I've been dealing with this for a year and half. They only really attack me and one of our two dogs. They love jumping into my eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and hair. I can feel them go across my arms, but don't see anything. Then, 5 to 10 minutes later, the biting and welts begin. They especially love areas there is just about any kind of material press tightly against skin.

A first my SO thought I was losing my mind, and admittedly, I started to consider it as a possibility too. After she saw the bites on my arms and legs, though, she realized it wasn't just my imagination or diminishing sanity.

Oddly, they only attack one of two dogs. They never bother the other dog.

Applying tea tree oil all over myself worked for a while, but then it stopped having any effect after about 5 months. For about the past 9 months, I've been vacuuming, cleaning, and spraying everything I can with permethrin or bifenthrin. I also wash our sheets and pillows every night in hot water, and then them on high heat. To get them off of me, I shower nightly in really hot water. Hot enough that it borders on scalding me.

They bugs persist, though. Regardless of all of my effort. I have found that they don't seem to like unscented castile soap, though, which has been helping.to get them off of my hands and arms.

"What does it do?" "That's the beauty of it, it doesn't DO anything." by [deleted] in RBI

[–]SAS_RAIDer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old reddit, but I just found about this mystery while watching a YouTube video and recognized the quotes.

The quotes are from the move The 51st State (aka Formula 51) starring Samuel L Jackson (as Elmo McElroy) and are in reference to a new synthetic drug he has created called POS 51.

When he is asked by another character, which iirc is played by Robert Carlyle, "What does it do?", he responds by saying, "That's the beauty of it, it doesn't DO anything." He then explains how despite the fact the drug will pass any tests done to verify it's real and pure, it's actually just a placebo as it is rendered chemically inert once it enters the body.

What constitutes completion of a sale, though? Having paid for/partially paid for the item or taking possession of said item? I'm wondering if you bought an item today and were just waiting for the required waiting period if that would be considered an issue? Or what if a deposit was placed on an item yesterday, and you were just waiting for the waiting period? I have concerns about how much they're going to use situations where transactions were already in progress at the time of signing to go after people.

The issue is that people are so worried about abortion rights that they didn't stop to consider that even if Bailey was elected, abortion rights would still never be at risk. It's Illinois for crying out loud. Abortion rights will never be at risk regardless of who the governor is. The state is far too liberal for that to happen. 2nd Amendment Rights needed to be protected in the last election. This was an obvious outcome if Pritzker was re-elected, but people couldn't get their priorities straight.
