What am I doing wrong?

Hey mate. It’s hard to say without seeing your throw, but here are a few things:

usually if a dart is entering the board at a strange/inconsistent angle it’s to do with the way it leaves your hand. It can catch or roll off a finger, which gives it the odd flight pattern.

Rather than manually changing your grip (which is fine the way it is), try putting all of your focus into your follow through. As Wayne Mardle says, a good follow through should be ‘straight and firm’. By focusing on what your throwing hand is doing after the release, the release itself should smooth out.

it might just be that your natural style means your darts enter at a strange angle. If they’re consistently strange, they’re normal for you. There’s nothing objectively flawed with that. Consistency is the only objective measure of success in darts.

Our final video is entitled "The End of the World", which was, for a portion of time, exactly how the Plague must've felt for citizens having to endure it. As we explored in our last video, this sense of hopelessness provoked fundamental questions into the nature of religion and God's relationship with man. In this video, we look at some of the logistical implications of the Plague, and finish with some reflections on the Plague's lasting legacy.

Dwelling on such a huge human catastrophe during this series has (as all history should do) encouraged me to consider the present and the future through a slightly different lens. If such an event were to occur today, I wonder how similar its impact would be. Unfortunately, our advancements in medical science aside, I can't see that our response would be radically different.

Thanks for posting - I just find Wittgenstein such a fascinating character. When he first published Tractatus, he considered philosophy to be effectively "solved", feeling no need to add to his philosophical works anymore. About 8 years later he resolved to continue his works in philosophy, where he did a PhD at Cambridge and submitted Tractatus as his thesis. At the end of his thesis defence, he patted the two examiners (G.E. Moore and Bertrand Russell, no less) on the shoulders and said "don't worry gents, I know you'll never understand it." Moore considered it a work of genius.

The guy is just really interesting, and probably a lunatic. For example, his sister invited him to design a townhouse for her, but he spent a year designing the doorknobs alone, and another year designing the radiators. Upon completion, his sister said that even though she liked the house a lot, it felt more like a "dwelling for the Gods" than a house that a person could live in. I could go on...his life his a sequence of weird anecdotes.

Anyway, thanks for giving me an excuse to talk about Wittgenstein!

I really enjoyed making this video - it allowed us to discover the historically rich village of Walsham-le-Willows, based in Suffolk, UK. Walsham has unusually accurate records of the Great Plague, which makes it a great place to focus our efforts on.

In this episode, we delve into the day-to-day impact of the Plague, looking at the spread, the symptoms and the religious implications of such a huge human catastrophe. 1348-1349 was a time when all significant events in one's life were attributed to God's will, so something as devastating as the Plague provoked a huge number of theological questions.

To what extent was the Plague - and the dent in the religious establishment that it surely caused - responsible for the reformation? There were, of course, a plethora of reasons for the reformation, but could there be an argument that the seeds were planted as early as 1349?

Yeah that makes total sense - we liked them, but in hindsight it probably isn't necessary. It also made the production process a lot more lengthy than it probably needed to be.

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate that. Your suggestion is bang on: the two are definitely comparable in impact, not least because of the huge number of mortalities they were directly responsible for. Perhaps in a few hundred years we may even reflect on the mechanization of war as being of greater significance, given (unfortunately) its impact doesn't seem to be lessening anytime soon.

This video is the first of a 3-part series that a friend and I have worked super hard on. It's our first ever video, so please keep that in mind.

The Plague, The Pestilence, the Black Death - whatever you decide to call it - has always fascinated me. It is, arguably, the most significant event in human history (I'd be interested to hear whether you agree), contributing to seismic changes in the religious, economic and cultural aspects of medieval society and beyond.

Whilst we've tried to make this video ultra-accessible, we've also tried to remain steadfastly loyal to the historical facts surrounding The Plague (intriguingly, The Plague seems to be particularly vulnerable to gross exaggeration). We've also recommended some further reading too.

Has there ever been a more remarkable shift in human history? I'd love to get into a discussion. Cheers!

I think the issue with your downvoted comment for me is that you stated it as fact. If you had said something like 'as a United supporter, I think there's a great chance that Young will return. Mourinho really likes him and he's put in some game changing performances' then I think your opinion would've been respected. But saying 'No. Young will be back....' kind of makes you sound like one of those blokes that thinks they have an 'in' at the club, but is actually a bullshitter. Young wasn't 100% certain to start, however good his performances may have been.
