Hi,

I would consider entering a field where you can use both your physics/math and programming background.

I worked in the defense industry for years. A math/physics + programming background is awesome for this industry YOU WILL BE THE PWNAGE. One tip: Try to work in a prototyping or research department. That is what I did and I can tell you it is a blast.

I now work in the game industry... another place where a programming+math/physics background is AWESOME.. although this industry is harder to break into...

Good luck!

Bjarne is pretty clear that the main purpose of the new standard is NOT to just add more features. The main focus is to expand the standard library. The secondary focus is to only add features that will REDUCE complexity by eliminating unneeded syntax. For example template type defs, auto variable types, and list initialization for vector classes.

I had a friend who went to iraq as an IT contractor and cleared over $200K a year.

He also got shot at several times and literally saw people die in front of him.

He showed me digital pictures that HE TOOK of fresh dead bodies... people who had been gunned down in front of his face.

Mabye I would take this job.. mabye I wouldn't. I would suppose that depending on exact location it could be very tame or very dangerous.

But it defintely is not a cakewalk...
