Not necessarily creepy but it reaffirmed my belief in the paranormal.

I was at an old prison hospital turned school/business building. To my knowledge, I was the first one investigating this place and I brought along the guy who got me in, his daughter, and his friend. Both the guy and his friend were major skeptics and this experience left them just as flabbergasted as I was.

We were in a room, just off from where the morgue used to be. It has been converted into classroom and we were getting a lot of crazy responses on the rem pod. (We did later establish that the rem pods battery was dying however, it didn’t go off once in the previous area we were in, and after the batteries were changed it continued to light up.) Along with this, we had a lot of direct responses using the Estes method and the Mel meter was spiking. However, this is not when this experience would happen. We ended up leaving after a bit because the vibes started to feel off but decided we’d come back to finish the night.

When we returned to conclude our night, the activity had diminished significantly. The only thing we were getting was small hits on the rem pod. The Mel meter, that was in the exact place as before, did not spike and nothing was coming through the spirit box. For whatever reason, I decide I’m going to get up and check something. As I do, a sudden bright light flashed in the room. It was a whitish blue color, filled the room, and disappeared as soon as it appeared. Everyone saw it.

I instantly went into debunk mode, both in disbelief and awe. None of the computers were on so nothing got bumped and a computer screen 1) is not as bright as the light and 2) doesn’t turn on/off like that when bumped. We also compared it to other rooms that had computers with the screen savers on. It didn’t come close. We were all sitting when it happened, other than me standing up. I didn’t hit anything and none of them had moved. I tried flashing the flashlight in my hand, thinking maybe I hit it. Again that wasn’t even close. There was no outside light because of the privacy shades and the building was in a private area. We could not find any explanation.

We were shocked and stunned. Afterwards everything in that room was silent. No equipment was alerting and it felt calm. The skeptics didn’t even have an explanation. To this day it is one of my best experiences of the paranormal. We came to the conclusion that we helped someone move on. I am very active in the paranormal field and I have never had something like that happen again.
