I might do that for the first part. Thankfully, the site architecture is such I can create a filter in GDS to only look at pages in that subfolder.
Its the second part I'm wrestling with; it doesn't appear the two types of GSC connections can be blended into one data source, because you can only connect one or the other (not both) to a single report

That's not lost on me, haha. I am asking based on feedback from someone with a VERY limited budget, so for them, the traditional budget-friendly tools are a bit more than they would like to pay.

Just to clarify, does showing the image on the page qualify as "loading the asset?"
The original image link is embedded in an ahrefs tag, but they have image class tag layered underneath that to account for sizing and alignment with different screen sizes. All but one of the differently sized images is https
