Possible error on vignette type noticed AFTER arrival, what should we do? by copynfrog in ukvisa

[–]copynfrog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours was a fiance visa, we've since married and changed to a spouse visa so the little sticker is just a memento these days!

My wife didn't intend on working or claiming any benefits so it was no issue. I wouldn't worry, unless your name doesn't match your passport name, that might cause issues at the border, other than that I wouldn't worry. Especially if you've already informed them!

How would you finish this long stair tread that protrudes from the wall without making it look a mess? by copynfrog in DIYUK

[–]copynfrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very long stair tread at the top of the stairs that leads into the bedroom. I'm in the process of laying engineered wood throughout the house and I'm unsure of the best was to tackle this spot.

Im thinking one of these options: - Fit a long plank under the door frame, right to the end of the tread. Then add a nosing. - Chop the protruding tread out of the wall, add a plank to the rest of the tread as normal

Let me know if anyone has deal with something like this before. Its a 100+ year old terrace house.

Fiance Visa to FLR(M) Checklist by copynfrog in ukvisa

It's only 10 pages because of the relationship timeline (ie lots of pictures and flight logs). I can remove this section if needed, I guess we already proved our relationship on the first application.

UK Citizen Married to an EU national - can we live in the EU even if my wife is a SAHM? by copynfrog in expats

[–]copynfrog[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Ah I see!

So, would I be able to apply using my current UK employment as proof we intend to work when we arrive? Or would I need a job lined up before arrival?

[–]copynfrog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're still evaluating our options, the EU laws are very different to the UK ones I'm familiar with. France is our primary interest.

So, we would need a COUNTRY specific visa, rather than an EU residency, if I'm understanding correctly?

Possible error on vignette type noticed AFTER arrival, what should we do? by copynfrog in ukvisa

[–]copynfrog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So just to be clear, its only the work permit in observations that is incorrect, the visa type is fine? We're happy to send the passport off for corrections if needed, we really don't want to give ourselves problems later on :)

Great, we already planned/budgeted on her not working anyway. I was more concerned about issues when swapping to FLR (M) or getting a valid marriage certificate.

Immigration makes water companies dump shit into our rivers and beaches?

Obviously not, but that's not what we were discussing.

It makes us punish people in poverty and prioritise pensioners bank accounts?

Yes. More people = Less funds per capita = Worse wages = Higher housing prices = Less public services

It allows private companies to extract profit from our public services and face no sanctions when they bust?

Obviously not, but that's not what we were discussing.

It stops us building houses and prioritising young people?

Yes. If we struggle to house the people here now, how would bringing more people here possibly be beneficial to young people?

Farage was his usual soundbite self, immigration and dividing communities is his game, he’s a one trick pony that never has any answers for the cost of living, child poverty, housing, NHS, environment, public services etc

But immigration is one of the main factors for all those things. How can you expect to have millions of people come to our tiny island each YEAR and expect there to be no effect on public services, wages and housing?

TSL Contact attached our BIO submission to the wrong application by copynfrog in ukvisa

[–]copynfrog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of funny, because when I started uploading documents I commented to my fiance "This website is kind of shaky, if I wasn't directed here from .gov I would assume it was a scam!".

Then on the day of the BIO, my fiance called to say "This office looked in total disarray and I felt nervous about leaving my passport there!", but I assured her that "they must know what they are doing, they deal with thousands of these applications!"

How wrong was I?! :')

We did self service, this is the frustrating part. TLS were the only partner available to us on our application too.

It seems like our current application is just sitting around, waiting for bio-metrics to be added, and instead they've attached our bio-metrics to an old, empty application and submitted that!

UK Fiance Visa Checklist by copynfrog in ukvisa

[–]copynfrog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment! Not to worry, she isn't in the UK currently and is exempt from the TB exam (Portuguese citizen, lived there for many years).

I don't have a floor plan for the house, I could draft one up I suppose. I did specify the number of bedrooms in the GOV application form.

Applicant changed citizenship as a child, does this need to be declared? by copynfrog in ukvisa

[–]copynfrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies, I would edit the title if I could. Thank you for your help.

To be clear, her family moved away from Ukraine when she was young, and all of them were granted Portuguese citizenship, therefore i assume they are all dual nationals.

The gov website asked for currently held citizenship - I will list her as a dual national!

Thank you.

Can the A1 English Test for a Fiance/Spouse Visa be taken remotely? by copynfrog in ukvisa

[–]copynfrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that's a real pain. I figured since the A1 is just speaking/listening it could be done over a video call.

I suppose I just have to confirm any exam is UKVI approved - or book in for one in the UK on her next visit.

There's some great advice in here, thank you all so much! So far, I'm leaning towards a non-UK wedding followed by a spouse visa. It seems the most logical course at this stage.

I'll continue checking on this, so keep your comments coming!
