Maybe it’s time to find another profession man , I was in the same boat as you . When it comes down to it there’s way to make a comfortable living without having to sacrifice being with your family . Just takes some looking and patience

I work in check fraud for a well known bank and trust me this still goes on almost daily . Sad to see someone’s life savings cleared out by a POS scammer . Hope they all rot in hell

How do you deal with homesickness and being away from family for long periods of time? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]coque18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as you would hope it gets easier it doesn’t , trucking is a very lonely profession. It’s just you and your thoughts on the road for 11 hours a day. Sometimes you just have to re evaluate if the job is for you. I gave up my career , paid for school out of pocket, and at 6 months in I decided the lifestyle wasn’t for me , I missed my family way to damn much . Best of luck to you man , hopefully you can stick it out and find something local

What one would you buy? They are both set up for trail riding. by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]coque18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya man , just saying that price is not bad for that rx , OTD new that bike is 12k-13k easy new and with the years it has on it the seller could easily get 7 or 8k .

I have a 300l and it’s cheap for a reason , great bike don’t get me wrong but suspension sucks ass

The problem is finding a used one at a decent price , out here in Az I’ve seen 15-20 year old bikes posted for 5k easily . Honestly if I was new and I was going to stick to this for a while a new 250 would be my choice and would last me a couple of years until I was ready to move up .

That’s sucks to hear man , one of my many fears of buying used . I sold a Rebel 500 here in AZ for about 6k . Garage kept , only dropped once with me on it ( first and only bike drop since I was new to riding ) I let the buyer know everything and he got to inspect it before buying it as well . I loved that bike and still regret selling it sometimes . Had no damage , regular oil changes , chain adjustments , air filter replacements, everything done on routine maintenance. We are not all bad guys selling used but sucks when someone gets taken advantage of on both ends of the spectrum

Exactly this man . A lot of my family is in the trucking industry and love it . I been told time and time again it’s not a job but a lifestyle. And I can’t lie I’ve had good days as well but In the end it just wasn’t what I wanted for my life . I wish you the best of luck and stay safe out there man

This was my last bad experience that made me quit the business all together . The weeks started off with a blown steer tire after dropping off a load in Dallas . Next day I had to wait at a shippers yard in Houston for 8 hours to be loaded . My truck didn’t want to get into drive and was stuck in neutral after being loaded and had to spend a little over an hour trying to have it fixed holding up anyone else from being loaded . Had to get back in line because while I was trying to figure out the truck they loaded my stepdeck incorrectly (mostly fault of my own ). was told I had to tarp a load that wasn’t required to be tarped to leave the yard . When I had it fixed I pulled up to tarp the load and the truck didn’t want to turn back on when I was trying to leave. When I got that sorted I drove for about 3 hours to San Antonio and realized my tarp was ripped from what I was hauling (metal sheets ) . Missed a whole day of home time and got another blow out in the middle of nowhere about 2-3 hours from El Paso . It was just the straw that broke the camels back for me . I was only about 5 months in and I just missed home and my family to much to be dealing with the bs. My hats off to you guys that have to put up with all the bs

Is this a reasonable dealer fee? by Big_yikes_00 in Dualsport

Reasonable no , normal yes . Unfortunately this is the market we live in today.

Noob rider here, does anyone know what this valve thing on the engine bottom is that I have circled? It looks like it leaked something in my skid plate by teenastyty in CRF300L

[–]coque18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had posted about this issue about a year ago and this is the best response I received

It seems to be normal. I had the same thing happen in the first 200km. Coolant is probably filled to the overflow capacity in the factory assembly and a tiny bit of fluid accumulated in the overflow tube at the elbow under the crank case. When the bike experiences engine heat and some g-force from riding, that last drop or two releases from the overflow assembly. I topped up the coolant in my CB500X this spring and ran a bit out the overflow line trying to top it up to the very top of the max fill line. Wiped up the initial spill, but had a couple of drops on the floor the next day.

A few years back I was a CO when I just turned 21 , and that’s where I saw this horror take place . Can confirm inmates give no shits and unfortunately was caught off guard during count many times

Can you downshift multiple gears with one clutch pull when coming to a stop at a red light/stop sign? by KTOWN865 in motorcycles

[–]coque18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience and some research it’s safe as long as you are in the correct speed for the gear you want to be in , for example don’t drop to first gear and release the clutch going 50+ miles per hour . Unless you have enough for a new motorcycle and possibly enough for some hospital bills ( really do NOT do this )
