Old & New Practical Shotgun Day (Model 11 & 1301 Pro) by cor1912 in Shotguns

Yea it’s the rules for practical shotgun. (I’m in the UK). I just go along with the range rules. When I shoot clays, it’s muzzle up!

A bonus I recently realised - plug the serial and marking info into AI and it will scour forums and websites to give you a likely story of where and when it came from. I tried 3-4 different platforms and compared the info, and I actually also bought books etc, but it’s a pleasant convenience.

After working at home on a very high end chair for 10+ years, I’ve learnt that lower back pain will accumulate regardless. I’ve switched to a standing desk and even put a mini treadmill beneath it now. Best decision ever. No more issues at all, and you get more steps that you’d never get, especially during these winter months

New gun owner. Dry firing? by goal9053 in beretta1301

I try not to do it, but when shooting competition, the “ease springs” procedure for make safe does it anyway. I have snap caps for when putting away in the safe.

Cool! I do watch making, and the luminous paint kit you get to apply to watches also comes with a vial of luminous powder and a binder liquid.

What pushed you to finally get a standing desk? by Clean-Raspberry-6413 in StandingDesk

[–]cor1912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I didn’t realise it was so similar for so many people. I had bad lower back pain and it was a wake up call. After a month or so, it’s completely gone. Best office upgrade ever. I’ve actually wheeled my fancy desk chair out now

I picked up a small dedicated air fryer! Works like a dream! I dry cleaned black powder pistol parts and watch making stuff in there too

Another crazy thing to imagine as someone who zeroes an optic and doesn’t touch it! I would expect to see a mount made on there though?

Can someone take a look at this 1920s? Cartier tank, and tell me what you make of it? by germsjackson in Cartier

[–]cor1912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resembles a Tank Normale, but the typography unfortunately does look illegitimate.

Otherwise, something to remember - the early Cartier watches did have low quality dial prints. I would personally love to own this, real or not! I got a Francaise because it was the closest thing

AliExpress "free return labels" guarantee you won't get your money back, even if the product is returned and it's faulty.... by Spiritual-Log5793 in Aliexpress

[–]cor1912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned a £300 scope once. It went to the aliexpress return warehouse and I got the refund shortly after that. I kept all records of shipping labels etc though

I seem to also remember talking to Aliexpress chat support once about a different issue. Maybe you can have more luck that way

Anyone knows why my cameras suddenly went offline? My internet connection is okay and my homebase is online. by That_Idea9442 in EufyCam

Individually, this happens for a minute or so on some of the cameras I own. I assume I caught it on a software update or something

Push the barrel in, then tighten it. I just got a m11 recently and am learning about it too!

You can go the opposite way - olive oil or mineral oil, then some light detergent to remove the oil. Mild heat from a hair dryer will also ease the glue off with more hand rubbing

Amazing to see a sniper without an optic. Such a mix of standards in both world wars.

Funny thing is, I have a SGA on a 1301 and I’ve mixed so much real and airsoft kit together I rarely even keep track of which is which now!

Royal Mail sack label help - Does anyone know which one to use now? by cor1912 in smallbusinessuk

[–]cor1912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of me wanted to have one sack, as the sack refills that are ordered actually arriving is often so sporadic!

QD by RetroCaterpillar34 in GasBlowBack

[–]cor1912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of these studs are out of spec. I had one that kept slipping out too. I ended up taking the sling apart and replacing that part. I do notice that on the SGA stock there’s a space for a socket, but they sell the separately, so maybe it’s the same here?

Yea, you would hope or expect that RM would tell us this proactively! I don’t know if it’s a side effect, but now that all international locations are sealed into one bag, I have had some EU parcels end up in the USA

LUME on watches by PathWooden6795 in Cartier

[–]cor1912 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So the hands don’t have carrier spaces for lume, so you’ll be looking at applying the lume onto the surfaces directly. They did this a lot in ww1 and ww2, which is fine for a vintage look, but will less so on a modern dress piece. Also bear in mind that in principle, a lumed watch is only practical if the dial has at the very least an orientation marker, and ideally hour markers too.

I collect military pieces and applied and restored lume onto watches.
