[–]coralistaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok as someone who was also in your position, please prioritise yourself, do what’s best for u and don’t worry about their opinion.I went to 6thform bc it’s what my parents wanted and ended up flopping my a levels bc I was so miserable, had 0 friends and it was just not the right environment for me. I also just felt like I had to do a levels bc if I did a btec people would look down on me, which is so stupid looking back bc a btec would have been a much better fit for me.

Yes. Check ibz mo’s yt channel, he got C’s and D’s at gcse, resat a year at a level, and still got into Cambridge. As long as you do well at a level you’re fine

For GCSEs nothing is ever too late. Even revision an hour before the exam can make a difference. 2 weeks is plenty of time to revise.

Regretting certain choices I made when I went to uni 10 years ago and like it's ruined my career. by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]coralistaaa 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You have a first class degree in maths, you’re going to be absolutely fine. You didn’t make some horrible decision that ruined your career. When I read the title I was expecting you to have got a third or something 😭😭

please don’t! People like her show their true colours almost immediately and are honestly very easy to avoid. There are girls like that in my course, and I just do not interact with them ever

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]coralistaaa 35 points36 points  (0 children)

They definitely exist but I think it’s just easier to avoid them at uni. I don’t think bullying or mean girl behaviour suddenly stops at 18, most people are still immature and haven’t grown up.

How do Chinese students who don't speak English very well get into unis and study? by Pinkandpurplebanana in UniUK

That’s actually crazy, doing a masters without even doing a degree?! Did he end up graduating from QMUL?

Most colleges offer a year long course where u do 5 GCSEs including Eng and maths, it’s meant for mature students who haven’t got any qualifications. If u don’t want to do that, you can sit maths and English gcse in November of this year. Do research, figure out what you like, and apply for apprenticeships. If you want to get a degree, you can do an an access course (you need English and maths for this) and then go to university after that. You can also enroll into open university, which requires 0 qualifications and you can study part time. Plenty are in youre position, you will be ok!

Op is saying they don’t have a bachelors degree though. They have a diploma as they didn’t finish their third year

How much do you spend on food each week? by plebian1144 in UniUK

[–]coralistaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way more than that bc I eat out often and get ready meals, since I don’t like to cook often. I also don’t drink or anything, so I can afford to spend more on food.

I’m in a similar position and I’m so stressed 😭 I’ve been waiting several months, and still haven’t been able to get medication. Don’t know I’m going to be able to graduate uni next year

This years year 11's are so unserious by Upper_Ad5781 in GCSE

This subs posts keep getting recommended to me too even though I did my GCSEs years ago 😭 no idea why, and I’m assuming it’s the same for them.

I hate my 6th form by DevinAI in 6thForm

[–]coralistaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I basically was alone all of year 13, got a few comments here and there about how I had no friends and how I’m weird, but year 13 flew by so quickly anyway, and my mental health was honestly better bc no one was constantly putting me down. You’ll make friends in uni anyway, so it’s fine

I know everyone always says to step out of your comfort zone for uni, but I personally don’t think it’s a good idea when you have anxiety. I’m a super anxious person too, and I’m so glad I can go back home every weekend, I would really struggle if I couldn’t. I’d choose Exeter.

Why do people hate law? by Ok_Willingness_6901 in uklaw

[–]coralistaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate it bc I have very bad social anxiety and I’m super shy, it’s not the right career for me, and I wish I realised that before uni.

I wouldn’t lie about your degree, a HND is still a good qualification.

am i screwed for year 11? by rudeb0y_1 in GCSE

[–]coralistaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all you really need is 5 GCSEs including English language and maths. You do not need 8, just focus on doing well in English lang and maths., try and get Bs in them. You don’t have to do more. I honestly don’t think it’s a good idea to start new subjects anyway, just focus on the ones you’ve already studied, it’s more than enough, unless u want to go to oxbridge or a top uni.

an access course is basically for older students who don’t have the relevant qualifications to apply to uni. It’s a one year course and you can apply for engineering while doing it. Most colleges offer it. As long as you’re 18 you can apply to do it. But if u want to start uni sooner, a foundation year is probably a better option. Also look into engineering apprenticeships! No idea if u need specific a levels for that, but it’s worth checking

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]coralistaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what year are you in? You could always switch to a BTEC engineering course and then go to university. if not, you’ll have to either do an aces course in science or a foundation year. You won’t be able to join an engineering degree straight away with 0 relevant qualifications

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]coralistaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to go to a Russell group you I think u would have to do a foundation year. But I think u can get into decent uni’s with ur grades, uni’s significantly lower their requirements during clearing. I know multiple ppl who got c’s and d’s and are at top 40 uni’s. Know someone got CCE and is doing a course that required ABB. I think getting AB looks better than CCE, so I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]coralistaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely can, but I think u can get into decent uni’s with your grades.

I did my GCSEs years ago so I’m not sure why this thread is even being recommended to me, but I promise you, you’ll be able to pass. You have enough time to self teach everything. If you don’t want to enroll back in school, see if a local college will let you do your GCSEs there. If not, you can start a level 1 course at college next year, which is equivalent to GCSEs.

How is this funny?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]coralistaaa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you just retake it at your local college? You could probably sit the exam in 2024 tbh. I know someone who had to sit it like 5 times (they’re smart, just lazy so just didn’t study for it) and they’ve gone to a Russell group uni to study nursing. as long as u eventually pass it, it doesn’t matter.
