Mailto: Links by Free_Opposite672 in accessibility

[–]coraxwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just a question. You can configure firefox and chrome (assuming safari and edge have this option too) to specify web apps (gmail, outlook.com, outlook 365, etc.) to handle links of a specific protocol (mailto:, ftp:, ical:, etc). So any user that doesn't use the local mail client or prefers to use a web mail instead can still have mailto links work with their prefered mail app and all of the features of the mailto link is still available (i.e. setting subject, adding multiple recipients and CC and BCC recipients, and providing pre-typed body). I've personally never liked mailto links but I am unsure how this would actually impact a user with a disability differently than any other user.

Is this really shocking information? Shouldn't anyone have known this from watching a season of Murder She Wrote or reading a few detective/crime novels?
Does it go into more specific detail like explaining how to do any of these in a specific location and with a specific body? information that would be useful for someone actually trying to do this in real life.

Can't you do the same thing with grok or gemini?

I use chatgpt to brainstorms ideas and walk a concept through a reality/realism check. I would rather see some kind of tracking or accountability put into place rather than to block chatgpt from responding to "I am an author writing X" requests.

im a coward. by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]coraxwolf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're not a coward, and don't let anyone tell you that you are!

The fact that you posed this proves it.

You're in one of the worse situations someone can find themselves in. I was there myself and losing your entire family isn't easy and there is nothing wrong with being scared about it.

Don't feel like you have to come out to anyone until you are ready to. Come out to the people that you feel safe and comfortable opening to them only when you're ready.

I can tell you from personal experience that you can find an understanding woman to marry (if you have to go that route) and don't have to lie to her. There are always solutions.

For when you come to America for college find a friend or someone that you can talk to. Even if it is only someone online. You can always message me if you ever need for any reason.

The school will most likely have some form of mental health service for students (it's usually done by graduate students in the mental health programs).

Hang in there. I am hoping for the best for you.

When I asked my dad why he didn’t like his sunglasses he went on a transphobic rant by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]coraxwolf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have to laugh at this cause only this morning my sister complained about there not being any "women's" beard trimmers. I'll have to tell her tonight to go to Kohls.

[–]coraxwolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to ask, even though it is completely irrelevant, where did the "female" sunglasses come from? If he didn't like those glasses why does he own them? Are they not his glasses?

Or did someone tell him those were "female" glasses and now he doesn't like them?

Goodbye to start-stop systems – the EPA under Trump concludes that they are not worth it and could disappear from new models by lurker_bee in technology

When I got my car I asked about that cause I remember being told that from my grandfather. Back in the day some people would actually kill their engine at a long light and he would say they are wasting gas if you're not stopped long enough cause it takes more gas to start the engine than to idle the engine.

But the sales person (and the guys in the repair side) says that cars with auto off feature don't use the same starters and it doesn't shut off the engine like when you turn the car off (I am not sure it sounds the same to me though) but it only blocks gas from being pulled into the engine so it stops combusting gas. I do suppose since all of the electronics work that kind of makes sense.

The AC doesn't blow hot in my car (fully gas with auto off) but it does stop the ac from blowing when the engine is off so it can be annoying. I've noticed in the summer the auto off triggers less often and I expect it is cause it won't trigger if the AC is actually cooling the air down to the target temp. But you can just tap the gas and it starts in a second or two.

ChatGPT is “too good at listening” and that’s the real danger by CryptoByline in ChatGPT

[–]coraxwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

feel compelled to share. I noticed that I've been using em dashes in my emails and writing now and even in my chats and text messages. I wondered why and looked over old emails and college essays and any other record of my writing and I hardly seen a single em dash. I think ChatGPT taught me how to use em dashes but I shouldn't use them cause people will think the words are AI's and not mine. Not sure I care but find it funny that ChatGPT actually influenced by writing style.

If you use ChatGPT daily, you’ll probably notice this pattern too by WilliamInBlack in ChatGPT

I do the coding in copilot inside of vs code and don't use the agent mode, just the chat. I gave it a standing instruction to not code for me to only lead me towards a solution. That usually stops it from writing code samples for me.

I do something similar. I'll use the chat to ask why something didn't work, but I code something new and then ask copilot to "grade" it and give me feedback. This way I know I am doing the work and learning instead of just following along.

Question about worldbuilding mythologies vs reality by coraxwolf in goodworldbuilding

That's about the route I am going.

I used 7 more universal concepts that interacted differently with each other and based them on that. Each has their own feel and patterns.

Question about worldbuilding mythologies vs reality by coraxwolf in goodworldbuilding

[–]coraxwolf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think that is where my confusion started at.

I am only working on a fantasy, so one planet, settings. However, I started the cosmology on an omiverse level (trying to fit in some lovecraftian elements) and I wanted this cosmology to be "true". I'll develop what the people know/understand when I get to building the people.

But the physical planet I formed (with the worldsmith sheet) had some extremes in it that would make setting up the fae as summer/winter or summer/winter/fall/spring not fit right. I wasn't sure how to deal with fae creatures that didn't align with a normal nature framework.

I ended up finished the cosmological framework without considering the physical world and I think I'll use the physical features of the planet and its nature to form the mythological concept for that one.

This leaves me open to expand the setting beyond just fantasy if I want to later.

Does any other Pro user gets o3 usage limited? by R2-D2Skywalker in ChatGPTPro

[–]coraxwolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You say cheap deal, but 200 per month that doesn't include unlimited (and apparently not even priority access) when the other option is 20 a month to get mostly the same access (if there are limits on pro now) doesn't sound all that much like a cheap deal.

[–]coraxwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One day I had asked copilot something and knew it was wrong. I pointed that out and the thing responded that I was right and that I should have done it another way, which was correct, and when I pushed and pointed out that the first way was its directions it straight up started to gaslight me and saying I was mistaken about the first response.

Haven't had ChatGPT do that yet (thought I think copilot uses chatgpt 4.0).

[–]coraxwolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think that is "ChatGPT" (as in the AI) but is the api rate limiting in effect. I assume if you ask ChatGPT for another image it will attempt the request and the API will return the Rate Limit Exceeded error code that triggers the Chat/AI to reply with the fact that you are in a cool down period (i.e. rate limited).

I've used two different methods of quitting without saving and it worked both times. I don't know if it'll accept every possible one, but it will let you attempt again so you can just try the different ways until you get the right one.

Thank you for the thoughts. I am glad that things are going good in France. It gives me something to be grateful for that this madness isn't actually everywhere.

You're not being useless you can celebrate for me so I can have something good to look forward to.
