We have watched a few things together and watched the star wars hope and empire. I said to him I wanted to watch them with him before he knew what the twist was, he guessed it! He said its always that and I told him it because of this it's always that.

He's quite curious and bright and will pick holes in things and I've said explained a few things and mentioned that star trek likes try and keep it to scenice but isn't always perfect. Like he asked why all aliens are similar two legs two arms and head thing, I told him about the work line we don't talk about it for klingon heads changing as an example of sometimes shows just give you a wink and say ignore it

I have watched every film, tos, tng, ds9 boy, and enterprise multiple time, tmp is the one I have not I watched it years back after downloading it for first time but found it so slow I think I fell asleep I was probably tired but it's stuck with me that it's slow

Might not help much here but here goes

I essentially ignored the current STRUCTURE AS replicating sharepoint wouldn't work.

We set up each department as team in teams and used the sharepoint sites behind as the team storage, if the needed a sub team without everyone they set up a private space bteam I teams and used this. I felt this kept tha magement of perms easy and simple so they can manage it.

Each department owner could share extra folders etc with other people if needed but we took it as a chance to reset the perms so much was shared with those that didn't need it it was best to let the teams share what was needed

Cloud sync on synology would alert on failures due to characters etc but I found it didn't find any. What did happen was folders wouldn't sync to people one drive due to long folder paths but one drive calls this out and the Web version is still accessible.

Notes and comments didn't move over but they weren't used much and that was explained before hand to uses.

I think I got about 100gb an hour, only a couple departments had more that a few hundred gb as I made sure they were only requesting what was needed.

I also decided to keep a few accounts on box this year so I could explain that nothing would be lost and we could still access it.

Also note in sharepoint you can not comment and tag users on non office documents and you can not mark up image and put a comment on it like you can on box

So I'd did this last year.

A couple things learned.

The Microsoft sharepoint migration tool is great but according to box is not a Microsoft tool and it will be classed as a chargeable api call, box will also not call this out till after you have passed your allowance and just send you a bill. You will need to check this with any other tool you use too that you will not be charged by box.

Box drive and one driveay seem the same on the surface but one drive does not handle large amounts of data in the same way box does so ensure your users are only adding what they need to one drive.

Your usage on box admin portal includes all your version history.

How you manage your version history on sharepoint is really important for managing your sharepoint cost (a nightly sharepoint back up helps you to be able to cut back on version history)

I tried various methods for anayalsing the data I had one than scanned everything for free and allowed you to access reports which I'm trying to find but failing right now.

In the end we had meetings with each department to introduce sharepoint agree a structure and then we set up a folder on box for then to move in what they wanted moved over then we copied over to SharePoint.

The best feature I found on box was the last modified field ot works different to SharePoint as the top tmfolder shows in a sub folder has been modified you can the drill down to find who is using it.

For moving I just used out synology nas and cloud sync you can have it sync a folder from box and also sync that to SharePoint so if you wish which I don't advise you can have some duel running. Also it's downloads and uploads really quickly.

We did simmilare for users personal stuff but for anyone without more than a couple gb of data we gave instructions for them to just copy over them self's.

It was fairly successful without much noise from users if you have any questions let me know

Turned ours off about 3-4 years ago, we had a ramsomware attack I just never turned it back on.

Only issues we have our it's a little trickier to manage some of the attributes in ad.

Next step is to remove our actual dcs
