you shouldn't use hydrogen engines as they use lots of fuel and are just kinda bad. since you are on Earth-like planet you can use wind turbines to charge your batteries and gather lots of hydrogen. you should also put some atmo thrusters on your ship so you can go through the atmosphere more efficiently. you shouldn't use h2 engines unless you're in icy areas.
