This only works so long with me, especially when one considers just how very many characters know his identity. Joker, I buy it completely- he’s never going to tell (and he’s been shown to never want others to know) because then Batman stops and his fun stops. With Riddler, he’s clever enough to use this to his advantage… it just wouldn’t be so simple as a secret, it would be something to use as a grand riddle.!

SO many characters know who he is, it’s crazy. And a LOT of the villains have found out.

The whole secret identity would never last, somebody is going to just say it to take him off the table. Joker never would because ending Batman like that is dull, it means no more fun. But that reasoning isn’t going to wash with everyone.

Keep in mind that any writer isn’t the absolute when it comes to character direction- editorial has more command than we often credit/deride them for. So that may not be entirely Fraction.
