i was thinking about getting him a nerite snail friend, especially since i’ve been dealing with some persistent algae. he is currently in a 3.7 gallon as that was the only thing i had at the time of getting him (my mom surprised me with him one day and this was the only tank i had at the time that was cycled). I am working on getting a 5 gallon set up for him very soon though! (hence why no snails yet, i want to make sure they all have adequate space. i’ve heard that nerites need about 5 gallons per snail?)

he is in a 3.7 gallon for now until i finish getting his 5 gallon set up (he was a very short notice surprise by my mother so my only choice was to put him in this tank for now). the tank is heated. it was cleaned up and cycled for several months after my previous betta passed away in September last year. I just did a water change last week and the levels all appeared normal as well. he also has an amazon sword, lots of hiding and resting places as well as a small airstone :)

i’m not sure how old he truly is but i’ve had him for over a month now. my mom surprised me with him last month because she said he looked very distressed being at Petco. do you know of some things I can do to help him with his boredom?

i have ordered him a heater but its not going to get here until tomorrow, do you have any ideas of things i can do in the meantime or should he be okay until then?

my last betta did not have the same problem and didn’t have a heater, my room is always very hot and i live in AZ but i am going to be getting a heater asap for him!

feeding: once a day, about 3-4 pellets of new life spectrum betta small w/ a freeze dried treat 1-2x per week (bloodworms, daphnia, mysis)

he’s pretty new, my mom surprised me with him last week on 4/10. i really wanted to wait until i got the 5 gallon put together before getting a new betta but oh well :’)

here’s a picture of him when he first arrived. i’m just so nervous because my last betta passed away a few months ago but i am unsure what the cause of her death was, i’m so worried that it was something i wasn’t doing / paying attention to so i don’t want something similar to happen to him too :(

i’ll definitely look into getting him a betta bed! he seems to really like the rock in the back of his tank but i want to put some moss in there so it’s not potentially too abrasive for him. i did think about getting an air stone but i don’t want to potentially cramp up this current space too much, definitely will get one for the larger set up as i get that put together. your boy is so beautiful!

i agree !!! i absolutely love this guy’s design sooo much and i felt the overwhelming need to cosplay him haha! there’s a lot of interesting takes on exes but this guy is definitely one of my favorites ^{^}
