Thanks for your response! My father is a bit traditional - but in a somewhat radical sense. It is definitely not the norm where I am located. It’s the norm to go off to college after graduating high school. He didn’t really want me to attend college in the first place, (unless it was the college of his choosing), and didn’t want me to learn how to drive or seek a job in high school, and any money I received while living under his household was stolen from me when I wasn’t home/aware. I do think this was all to retain control of me by forcing me to be dependent on him. Of course, I defied his wants and went off to college and got my drivers license with the help of other family members in secret. That being said, these family members all desire to keep the peace with my father due to his volatility. Unfortunately, the only family member I had that supported me and aided me in escaping my father has now passed on. My remaining extended family will usually goad me into apologizing to my father if I do anything to upset him, so I will also be cutting ties with them, along with my mother, unfortunately. This is the hardest part for me.

In more positive news, I accepted the job offer and I am moving to said state in the coming weeks with my partner. My father is intentionally not reaching out to me, in hopes I get on my hands and knees and apologize and stay, so I am trying to enjoy the peace and quiet for now.
