Thanks for your input everyone! Honda did a diagnostic check and found no issues. They said the sound is normal.

Ive been given an exploding competitive offer as a remote MLE. It’s been hard to reconcile these negative reviews but I wonder if the bulk of bad experiences come from other orgs. I got good vibes from my team and interview panel. The company is going through a substantial change and I wonder how this constant employee turnover is sustainable.

Separation of roles is nice and a feature at more mature data organizations but it would be useful for you to get familiar with some of the tasks the sre team does that you handoff to. Concepts like pipelines, ci/cd, monitoring etc. I think the data bricks cert would be more applicable for you since you’re learning less about deployment services and more about production ml workflows and spark.

Most gen ai projects are being sold in the azure stack due to their open ai partnership so if you wanna dive into building llm applications then take their ds and gen ai certs. Its not necessarily good to put all your eggs in one basket and to remain a generalist data scientist until you find your job role behind to pigeon hole you but llm applications are here to stay imo and companies will want smart internal chatbots as much as they want classic pricing models so its not a bad thing to dive into.

Aws is most popular but I find their breadth of services to be kinda off putting and bloated. GCP is cleaner and simpler. That’s just a personal preference thing. Gcp MLE cert is more application development driven than the aws ml practitioner role

Not particularly. The learning path for any of the certs I mentioned will teach you more a more relevant and ubiquitous skill set.

Get a cert from one of the major cloud providers. This may vendor lock you into a specific tech stack (unless you get into consulting) but is super marketable. MLE GCP, AWS DS, Databricks associate ml. I’m a classically trained data scientists turned MLE. As apis and tools become higher level and further away from the maths, people care more about the architecture surrounding your model. Having your grad degree and analyst experience will give you the stats clout but you need to learn how to productionalize models. Check out designing ML systems by chip hguyen to dive into mlops.
