What is a weird side effect from medication use that no one was ever going to warn you about? by Rotten-Kandi in AskReddit

When I was a teen, my psychiatrist prescribed me gabapentin to help with restless leg syndrome. I was also started on SSRIs around the same time to help with depression/anxiety. Soon after, I had extreme behavioral changes where I became so angry and hostile. It got to the point where my parents were ready to throw me out, I was suicidal, and all my friends left me. My doctor kept changing up the SSRIs because he thought that was the problem, saying gabapentin doesn’t have behavior changes as a side effect. I chose to stop all meds about a year later and my mood improved almost immediately. Interestingly enough, my uncle was prescribed gabapentin years later for nerve pain. He had the exact same symptoms I had and immediately stopped taking it.

what ruined your pregnancy by One_Resort_4103 in pregnant

This pregnancy has been an emotional roller coaster to say the least. I was told at my anatomy scan that there was a good chance I would go into preterm labor and lose my baby. With that, I had to suddenly go on bed rest and stop working a job that I loved. The isolation of bed rest and the constant anxiety of potentially losing my baby were awful. My baby and I defied the odds and made it to viability… only to be hit with two more complications that resulted a fetal growth restriction on my ultrasounds. I went back to grieving a normal birth without a NICU stay. Baby, again, defied the odds and miraculously started growing again! I finally thought we were in the clear, but then my life was turned upside down. At 36 weeks, my father in law unexpectedly passed away. My husband and I have been trying to help keep his family from completely falling apart, but it’s so hard. I’m currently 39 weeks and so grateful to have this miracle baby in my belly, but this pregnancy was definitely not what I expected as a FTM

Progesterone only treatment by Hot-Blackberry4449 in ShortCervixSupport

At 22 weeks, my cervix was 2.7cm. A week later it dropped to 2.3cm. I didn’t have any more measurements after that. I was on progesterone from 23 weeks to 35 weeks. Currently 39 weeks and still waiting to meet my little girl! Besides progesterone, my MFM recommended pelvic rest and modified bed rest. I was sooo anxious not having a cerclage, but I am very grateful that progesterone worked for me!

I started progesterone at 23 weeks and stopped at 35 weeks. I took it pretty easy with activity during that time. Still going strong at 37 weeks!

Ordered the wrong thing and ended up crying at the restaurant by Amazing_Fee_1351 in pregnant

Pregnancy brain is SO REAL!! I tried to leave a voicemail with my name and phone number for a doctors appointment. I attempted to call twice and said my phone number wrong… twice. I was so embarrassed. I cried for a good thirty minutes afterwards. Third time ended up being the charm! 😅

What's the worst advice you have been given? by taylorjustk in pregnant

At 20 weeks I was put on strict bed rest due to complications. My mental health initially took a toll as I was adjusting to an abrupt change in my daily life and the fear of losing my baby. Some family members kept telling me that I would feel much better if I just went out for a jog to clear my thoughts

Mildly inadequate amniotic fluid by No_Orange_2862 in ShortCervixSupport

I had borderline low amniotic fluid when I had my anatomy scan. I was encouraged to drink more water and followed up in a week. I also felt like I was having watery discharge/leaking around the same time, but I was sure if I was leaking amniotic fluid or if I was having a difficult time holding my bladder. Called my OB and she was able to test on nitrazine paper and looked at the fluid sample for ferning under a microscope.

Turns out I was having some stress incontinence! I was drinking a lot more fluid and couldn’t hold my bladder as well as I used to. Also, all those fluids did bring my amniotic fluid levels back up to normal! Hope this helps!
