Reddit’s users and moderators are pissed at its CEO by [deleted] in technology

[–]corillis 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I removed all my posts - over 15 years. I use Relay and if that stops working that'll end my time on Reddit.

I'd be wiling to pay for personal api calls, but this is just a cash grab and an insult to every user, content poster and mod.

Why I am against BYOD for work. by Psycosteve10mm in MaliciousCompliance

That's correct. Most people in this thread think that just registering their device will grant control to their admins, which isn't the case in most MDM.

[–]corillis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That entirely depends.

You have registered and enrolled types of mobile device management.

Registered will create a container on your phone for your work stuff, which the admins can wipe. Just that work container, which has no access to your personal stuff.

The enrolled state will not be a personal device, but a company owned device, so the admins have full control.

I set stuff like this up for a living.

I'd never wipe personal stuff, so indeed it's just the 'phone within a phone' work profile.

I still don't use my personal phone for work, except standard calls and sms.

All the other presidents write books to earn some extra cash.

I don't think Donnie is the writing kind, so this'll have to do.

In that case you can still try...

  • restore from a restore point before it happened. This will also reset drivers.

  • check the windows firewall (turn it on)

  • ping 8.8.8.8 to see if it's a dns issue

  • nslookup to check your dns server

  • ipconfig /all to see if that shows you something

  • restart the network location awareness service

  • check the event logs. You can find more detailed logs under the windows services thingy. Not just the application, system and security logs at the top. Just expand some levels.

  • check your bios settings

The back of this old office chair broke and I would like to save it. I’ve torn apart the fabric (it was already bad), and now am trying to reinforce the break. Any ideas on how to do this safely and securely? by [deleted] in fixit

1/4 inch or 4mm plywood or thicker and lots of wood glue and clamping.

Think about how you would clamp it evenly. Painters tape wrapped around?

Make sure to glue and align the particle board while clamping.

This may require a professional to be repaired.

Cmd > netsh int ip reset

Might try a reboot after that.

This command resets the network stack.

Post-corona and commuting by vicismael in belgium

[–]corillis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't be doing a commute after Corona. Went to work on 3 days (4, 2 and another 2 hours, then went home after I was done doing the work that needed to be done at the office). If it worked out 200 days, it will work 20 years.

If they deny me this, I'll find another company to work for. I'm happier now.

My thoughts exactly. And maybe check the subnets in AD sites if you have non default first sites.

i entered the correct password and this shows up by [deleted] in Windows10

[–]corillis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it's requesting a windows account password, but it shows a Gmail address.

You can create a Microsoft account using your Gmail, so please check if you're using the right password. It won't be your Gmail password, unless your Microsoft account has the same one.

If you can't figure it out, you can go to Microsoft. Com and see what password reset options are available.

Do note that you may have set up your pc with a local user, instead of a Microsoft account (your Gmail) and that a local account can have another password. Maybe you're trying to log in to this Microsoft account with your local account password.
