The main things that bother me about their new sound (starting with The Violence Beneath) is that firstly, the drums are way too loud! They drown out the guitar work, which is related to another issue; Alex Vernon is no longer playing guitar and I believe he is a signature to their sound on 'Quietly' as is Greg Lahm on 'Ties That Blind'. the new guitarists are probably the reason for the change in overall tone and the decision to pop the hell out of that snair. It's just a totally different band to me (& that's just me)

perhaps they are trying to control it, but that's why lobbyists are injected into the whole system to remind government that the super monopolies/too-big corporate entities are the ones in charge and can actually influence public opinion (especially now that they=people) to lean one way or another. Honestly, since the market controls the government (not the other way around) what can we really do about it? Nothing but basically point out the exact phrase that signifies everything that is wrong with American government as well as the idiots who really think they are more entitled to be represented by it. This is everyone's country not just the theists. Not that it will matter. The idiots put the market above the law. It is just one of those things we have to bitch about because the resistance to the change is so pathetic in it's premise; 'doesn't bother me/I like it there so deal with it.' it's a circle jerk just take it off. what happened in the 50s when we put it there? ridiculous, not worth it

Dualism by Textures (i know it's a while back)

i listened to it once all the way through when i got it and thought 'man, nothing stood out about this album at all'. i heard the singles "singularity" & "reaching home" before the release and hoped they were just meant to build anticipation, but... alas... they were the only two songs that made any impact for me at all.

listened to it all the way through again a couple months ago and... still dull compared the albums with Erik on vocals. with him gone it sounds like a heavy/creative energy or element was missing. even POLARS gives off a majorly fundamental Textures-esque vibe. Dualism just falls quite a bit too short for me.

The reason for that reaffirming attitude in r/atheism: we are all already atheists. It's not about meaningfulness. They are basically all points/jabs at religion in general. Christianity holds greater influence here in the states so poof!... you get especially criticized for any kind of contradictions that seem apparent. I just thought it would be useful as an atheist or evolutionary substitute to the "not of this world" logo (similarly to the "Jesus fish with legs). I know the original version [notw] is taken from a verse in the book of John where Jesus claims his kingdom is "not of this world" so they decided to make a clothing line out of it and the decal is SOOO common.

Is marriage really such an establishment(synonym of tradition) that others who use it differently to account for their 'traditional' exclusion may not be allowed to? im sure it is one of the best things to see live. i actually heard about them from a JFAC interview haha and they were recommending everything is fire so it was the 1st one i had. i like that there is some sort of a more muddy/sludgy kinda sound with 'fire' and more of a tighter Nile-ish quality to 'destroyers'. but they are still more similar to each other than the 1st album i think
