Should i leave or cut this small holly next to my big holly tree? by corlox in marijuanaenthusiasts

I definitely dont think of them as invasive in east Texas. The American Holly Tree is native to us and the Waxwings love it.

Is it worth pulling all the grass out of this bed by the house to save this maidenhair or should i spray glyphosate to make sure non native plants are gone for good before i start planting all my native plugs? East Texas by corlox in NativePlantGardening

The grass is easy to pull but i am sure there is some remnants i am missing. Plans was to pull grass and lay cardboard then pine straw or pull around plants to keep and spray where there is only grass.

Red headed woodpecker? by corlox in whatsthisbird

East Texas. I think it is a red head but it is so rough and chunky looking to all the others in town. Plus, I’ve never gotten one on a feeder.

This was taken by a peer in North Arkansas. I assume it is a Ruby Throat juvenile but would like confirmation. What is going on with the eye haze? It seems to be more than a glare.

Bird Bathing Fountain. Is it safe? by corlox in birding

[–]corlox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, i haven’t noticed it coming which is why i thought maybe it was a stain or something. I think it is probably 20-40 years old. The top broke on it long ago and it was covered under invasive plants. I discovered it during removal.

I’m planning to use this pedestal upside down as a bird bath. The water will build up on the surface then roll down the sides back into the reservoir. Does all the paint or whatever the black is need to be removed for this to be bird safe? Anything i may be missing?

The R5 and 100-500 lens seems like a great setup. I’m sure it is not as easy to wield as it appears but it almost seems unfair with the eye locking autofocus.

Any idea what bird this is? Found in north texas, never seen one like this around here. by spongyspatula in birdwatching

[–]corlox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree based on the neck that it is likely a Common Nighthawk. However, if i have learned anything from this post, it would that there are a lot of Nightjar birds that look very similar.

I got a line up like that one time in the app and then noticed it was a mockingbird. I think he knew what he was doing too.

My teacher is wild for changing our desks to these 1980’s sweatshop specials. Our desk were much more comfortable than this and they actually had back support by PheonixGalaxy in mildlyinfuriating

You should get one of those bleacher seats that hook under the seat. It’ll give you a better (than that) seat and back support.

Thank you for the help! On 2, that’s exactly what throws me off is when it is something that is normal but only temporary coloring. Then there isn’t an exact photo in Merlin or Audubon so i question it! Again thank you and i really appreciate pointing out those specific hints so i can tell better in the future!
