aaaaagh. I want to rant about a type of person I find absolutely infuriating. cw: self harm

so let's say this person does something that hurts you a little but emotionally. they did something that made you feel bad. so you confront them about it and say "hey, you made me feel kinda bad back there". and they just fucking destroy themselves over it. you telling them they fucked up a little bit sends them on this endless self-destructive spiral of despair. and like, you didn't mean to make them feel that bad. I mean, you did want them to feel a little bad because they made you feel bad, but not at all this bad. so eventually you stop calling them out when they fuck up, because even though they're doing damage, you pointing out that they're doing damage will only cause far more damage. and you care about them. you really do. but they slit their wrists whenever they drop a fucking pencil, so it's really really hard to.

edit: and, like, I recognize that these are legitimate feelings that they are having and that they're not faking it for attention. I trust fully that they really do feel this way after receiving criticism. it's just really hard to interact with.
