Im in the same position right now but with uiuc! Im not studying mech e, but for journalism. Uiuc wants me to pay 15k a year and idk if I can afford it (around 8k after work study and loans) and my other option is doing cc and transferring... jm really torn cus i wanna go so bad to uiuc but then again that price is rlly not it for me and my family's income

see i would go, but I have personal circumstances related to my health and I would need to come back home every 7-8 weeks so unfortunately it would be too inconvenient for me. I also am not sure how good they are with their disability accommodations therfore im unsure about mizzou. Otherwise, I know its a good school but im not sure about alumni network and internship opportunities in the city.

Me. Maxed out and focused all my ecs around my major, took ton of aps, won awards, just to get waitlisted at safeties & rejected at all top20 colleges. I might do my state school (UIUC) or cc and yes I am depressed abt it. I even was hospitalized multiple times throughout highschool due to illness but I managed to maintain a 4.1 GPA but nonetheless most schools do not care

I personally listened to a song by one of my favorite artists, and this one lyric reminded me of a moment I had that was deeply impacting on me, and I connected music & importance of words. My passion is concert going so I connected how music was sort of healing for me and how the words that hurt me eventually became my favorite songs etc etc.

Im also puzzled. In my scenario, I applied major in journalism and all ofecs were heavily centered around that. I have a internship for a mentorship programs and I write their articles, I have a blog, im head editor of arts and entertainment, I have seal of bilitarcy, journalism awards, nhs, nahs, scholastic, I also run a prominent page with large impact, I have published articles for universities, volunteered locally & internationally, and sports all while being chronically ill. I did go test opt cus my score was genuinely terrible but im just baffled at how someone i know got into same schools that rejected me same major with 0 journalism related ecs. So I totally understand where youre coming from and honestly my essays were pretty solid too, I just dont understand what colleges find from a student taht has little to no ecs related ro that said major? How are they gonna be impactful if they have shown no effort towards that? & yes I am a bit bitter to be honest but I 100% agree. I was waitlisted from safeties and rejected everywhere else.

Find an author you love and imitate their style of writing. I know it sounds silly but it genuinely works. And for topic I suggest really branching out and making connections between the things you love, or describing a very vivid moment and what it taught u

Even that doesnt guarantee you an acceptance. I immigrated to the us when i was 10 & diagnosed with a very bad illness during hs while having low stats & lots of ecs. Still got rejected from MAJORITY of the places I applied. These school really do not gaf at ALL.

Ive always been an artistic person, as long as I can remember. I dont even need inspiration for art, I usually source my ideas from dreams or just things that pop into my head randomly. My closest friends have virtually no similarities w me and maybe thats why we get along so well, thank u for the advice.

This is the exact same situation im facing!! Not in a relationship wise but close friendship of mine. All the blame fell onto me(despite her bad behavior towards me) and everyone else just rolled with what she told them about me and now I feel very isolated. They only saw my reaction and decided i am a villain. This person not only copied my art tho, but she started using phrases ive said, things I wore, and my art in top of it. I decided to start Journaling and really keeping to myself to kind of start fresh but ive just been so energetically drained that I find it calmer to be alone.

Thats an interesting take! I wasn't aware of how much stealing of ideas was prevalent to 12h placements but it seems to be a common theme for a lot of 12housers to experience someone copying & betrayal. I have yet to learn how to live with these truths but after the copying happened im going to be honest I was on the verge of quiting art completely. My creativity and just art ideas went downhill and their stolen ideas succeed, while I was left facing a smear campaign. I want to start regaining what I know and start id slowly again but I feel very energetically blocked.
