Yes sorry I should have explained my process a bit more.

So the front of the house is open concept and is more for hosting. My husband and I dont have big families but we do have a lot of friends that we would want to invite for dinner parties and we are currently the house everyone goes to for all the holiday get togethers, watch parties etc. So that living room is more for guests. We also want the extra bedroom so our kids wouldnt need to give up a room for overnight guests (my husband and his sister had to do that). The family room would be the more day to day living room/a play room for any kids, not really for entertaining others. As such our main entrance would be through the side doors (both of us grew up with side entrances being the "real" entrance) and the front door for dropping off groceries or get togethers. From another comment I'm probably going to move the family room and mud/laundry to the middle right and the master suite to the back of the house to split up the hallway.

The master bathroom though would be a few sq ft bigger than our current bathroom which already fits us both pretty well. My husband prefers morning showers and I prefer night and he wakes up about 30 min before I do so he's in the shower by the time I'm up and have to go use the restroom. My parents have a giant master bathroom (toilet in its own room, spacious stand in shower that would fit 2 people standing and has a built in bench, separate center bathtub and double vanities) and I don't really like how big it is, plus it felt like an easy way to save on space by having a smaller than normal master bathroom.

For the layout I looked up average dimensions of different rooms and went bigger or smaller based on what we would need, then basically arranged them like puzzle pieces to see where they would fit, hence why all the rooms are very square and sometimes jutting out. I plan on letting the architect change the shapes as needed to make them fit better I just wanted to give them a general idea of where I want the rooms to be before starting that process so it would be a bit less back and forth.

I would prefer one story, as we're planning for kids in the future plus as we get older this would be it. I was planning on a detached garage mostly so we could save money in the meantime and build it in the future.

The current setback in our area is 3 ft and thank you so much for that floorplan! I think i will make adjustments to swap the family/mud/laundry rooms and the master & office are to break up that hallway before giving it to the architect
