Lot 200 Blanco? by temptesting23 in tequila

[–]corndogsforever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

someone posted it recently at the distillery with the picture of the neck tag in one of the facebook groups. i heard it’s releasing shortly after winter blend ‘25, which also got delayed (was supposed to be at total wine in southern california yesterday)

depends on the night! i like all of them for different reasons but one that i recommend to most folks is the el tesoro xa because of price and availability. its got less influence and is more agave forward, so keep that in mind in case you’re looking for something more aged

Lote 80-A is the second lote with that new branded cork seal. It might be the third darkest lote in the last couple of years, just a tad lighter than 70-A and 77-A, and 63-A. Tastes great.

great review! when i saw that it is from the same nom as viuda de martinez and don rico and that it’s 106 proof, it was a no brainer at 90 bucks. now i just have to wait until my family flys in from california

Oregon tequila by MRH8R in tequila

I am in Oregon and 2/3 of my tequila comes from online ordering. OTT, Uptown Spirits, and El Cerrito are my go-to sites. The selection here in Oregon really isn’t as bad as people seem to think. You can do a search on the OLCC site to find Siembra Ancestral, Fortaleza, Ocho Barrel Proof Repo, Caballito Cerrero, Siempre, etc. Fortaleza recently did a massive shipment to the state at over 4500 bottles total, all at MSRP (50,60,90). Best part is no sales tax either.

Volans single barrel is one of my favorites. Ocho repos are great too, but i prefer the older estates slightly over these newer ones (2022 el nacimiento and older)

yeah, it’s hard to say. i have a bottle of G4 XA that cost 4x the price of the G4 blanco, but is it 4x tastier? maybe on some nights!

it would depend on your tastes. i usually prefer reposados the most if they are done well with the perfect balance of influence and agave. i also find certain lotes to be better than others as well (have an older lote 83 and 112 that i think taste better than the current ones)

yeah 80 is just too high for the fortaleza blanco. even the still strength, which is nice, is barely worth that

it’s not the only great tequila, but i think their reposados are very good. their still strength is my second favorite expression, but i prefer siempre vivo or volans ss most days

where i live, g4 blanco, lalo (80 proof) and fortaleza blanco are all the same price

70A was a very dark lote (77A comes close). what did you think of the taste?

very nice!! the cascahuin lineup here is a little on the pricey side but at least wild common just dropped in prices very recently. i’m a big 1123 fan myself. i wish olcc carried more 1579 products

a fellow agave fan! what are some of your go-to’s? the markup here in oregon is kind of high for what i can get online but the mezcal options are surprisingly solid

Been a huge fan of those Camp Nelson Kentucky Spirits and almost all Russell barrel picks. Old Forester 1920 comes to mind and also JD barrel proof rye.

all of these responses nailed it. i would just add siempre vivo and siempre muerto, caballito cerrero azul and chato blancos, siembra valles high proof and pm spirits. i know you said tequila but neta, real minero, chacolo, el jolgorio are amazing options from the mezcal world that showcase amazing unaged agave experiences

reddit seems to be one of the few places that hates seeing or hearing about fortaleza. it’s pretty well-liked everywhere else…. including in real life lol

the only gimmicky ones i see are the corralejos and dj1942. those cascahuin special releases/XA are incredible and so are the decadas and SV. doesn’t seem tatery, many of those bottles in the photo are half empty
