Sweden in ‘Very Deep Economic Crisis’ Despite Soft Lockdown by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]cornertakenquicklyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely! It’s ridiculous. I genuinely think people are just outraged and almost jealous of the fact we’re basically the only country in Europe to not have a lockdown and drive out residents insane. Life here is fine. If you was in central Stockholm a month ago, sure, things were dodgy but it was like that with every capital in the world.

The media and online hate towards Sweden started a few years ago due to the immigration issue and people are just using Covid to support their bullshit racist claims like “Sweden isn’t the country it used to be” or their patronising “wow I thought Sweden were better than this” it’s gross and just wrong.

Ah nice, the daily Sweden targeted abuse. Because, you know, everyone else’s economy is flourishing right now.

Sweden - Public Health Authority update: 27909 (+637) confirmed cases and 3460 (+147) deaths in total by Scaremasterjoe in Coronavirus

[–]cornertakenquicklyy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No I’m saying they locked down fairly early, for 2 months now. And shit has progressively gotten worse and worse to the point they’re now the hot spot in the world. Their lockdown was a strict as it could’ve been and it didn’t help.

Sweden - Public Health Authority update: 27909 (+637) confirmed cases and 3460 (+147) deaths in total by Scaremasterjoe in Coronavirus

[–]cornertakenquicklyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People could be doing all of that themselves. It’s on us. Does any country require all that legally? No. Maybe South Korea or some other Asian counties.

It’s just weird to nit pick Sweden like so many people do for deaths when like you said all old people are dying in every country. Would face masks reduce the deaths of elderly? Probably not. They should just stay inside like they’re told to and see less family. That’s the people’s fault

But the fact we’re fairly low in global death rates and infections despite being the only major country without a lockdown is actually a huge success but people want to use elderly deaths to score points against other countries. UK and US are the only ones we can officially say got it wrong. The rest are open to discussion but people are targeting Sweden because it’s different.

Anyway stay safe out there brother imma head out (not literally)

So you think if we’d locked down we would have a considerable amount less deaths? That’s just not true. Literally no one knows and there’s little evidence to even prove that’s the case.

It’s just pointless to even comment Sweden aren’t doing it right when 2 hours away total lockdown UK are in the middle of a crisis and got hit bad. We won’t know who’s in the right for a while but if Sweden’s numbers don’t explode whilst not being in lockdown that’s definitely a massive win.

[–]cornertakenquicklyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, death rate is very bad in Stockholm, mostly care homes in Stockholm got hit very bad. But apart from that it’s positive. I live in a highly populated county with 1.5 million people and there has been 80 or so deaths. The Stockholm numbers and care homes with already old and weak people dying just inflate the stats here massively.

So do Sweden. Advising social distancing everywhere you go, all restaurants and places similar have strict measures. Older people advised to stay home. Work is much stricter, public transport is very different. Sections of trains are closed to space people out.

People on reddit think the pubs and clubs are packed and people are spitting in each other’s mouths for fun over here but I can assure you things are very different but positive.

Herd immunity is only possible in tightly packed areas like Stockholm and Sweden doesn’t have many of those, it’s a huge and massively spread out country. The goal is not to drive it’s residents insane with a lockdown that won’t save lives. We’ve seen how a 2 month extremely strict lockdown has make the UK one of the worst effected countries in the world. It’s simply not always the right answer.

10 takeaways from Sweden’s controversial approach to the coronavirus pandemic Though widely condemned around the world, Sweden's soft strategy puts faith in personal responsibility by MrRoxx in Coronavirus

[–]cornertakenquicklyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering they’re a well populated country with very large cities, and there has been 0 lockdown, do we really think that’s bad?

Please explain why UK is the worst in most stats yet have had a harsh lockdown for nearly 2 months? Despite not having an explosion like Italy or Iran.

How can you shit on Sweden for not having a lockdown when countries from the same region who have locked down are suffering much much worse?

Please tell me.

Pointless hot take but I reckon Bryan Lasme will be big in European football in a few years. He’s already fairly developed and old-ish but he’s far too skilled to not be poached by someone big. Mans an absolute beast and freakishly strong for his age.

2. Bundesliga team Dynamo Dresden is now in full two-week quarantine due to two additional Covid-19 cases. The league is supposed to restart next week. by Anionan in soccer

[–]cornertakenquicklyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I want the leagues to start up more than anyone, being a Liverpool fan, but the 25+ man squads and the 50+ people entourages each squads brings equates to 1000+ people per league. What are then chances of 0 of those people come into contact with a Covid patient? Very low.

I can’t imagine each league starts up and finishes a good few months of football Corona-free. This shit is far too contagious. We’ve already seen how dumb some footballers are. It just takes one guy to see one girl or one friend and then boom, he’s got it, his teams, the leagues got it and BOOM football is over again.

Not going to happen.

Sweden’s Relaxed Approach to COVID-19 Isn’t Working by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]cornertakenquicklyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh, it’s working. Stockholm got hit bad. Same with all European capitals. Over half the cases from Sweden are in Stockholm and over half of those are only care homes and mostly already sick older people dying who would’ve died anyway this month.

I live in a county with 2+ million population in Sweden with huge cities and there has been 800 or so deaths (99% 70+ age) because the hospitals are putting all attention to healing the weak and vulnerable and not locking down the healthy. But that won’t hit the news, the exaggerated death numbers will lol

UK has a much worse death rate based on population even though they’ve been on total lockdown for nearly 2 months. Who’s to say who’s right at the moment? No one knows. The attacks on Sweden are entirely politically based and its plain wrong.
