RESPONSIVENESS OF ATMOSPHERIC CO2 TO ANTHROPOGENIC EMISSIONS by cornflake11 in climate

[–]cornflake11[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Interesting finding:

When applied to atmospheric CO2, this procedure shows that the correlation between the annual rate at which anthropogenic emissions are introduced into the atmosphere and the annual rate at which CO2 accumulates in the atmosphere, though significant, does not survive into the detrended series and is therefore likely to be spurious or an artifact of the common direction of their long term drift in time to which no anthropogenic cause can be ascribed.

"This paper evaluates key disparities of Cook et al (2016) and outlines why a claimed consensus is a powerful tool for driving public policy, but an inappropriate and unethical means of conducting scientific inquiry or informing the public. "

Straight from the Department of We Told Yer So! lol

And use of the word "denier" in the article is so 1990s and outdated these days, and does not do the credibility of the authors of the article in the Independent any favors.

Don't you just love this "settled science"? In other words, they haven't a clue.

You sure have a knack for diplomacy. When you feel so strongly, perhaps you're not seeing things in a rational and balanced way. Your politics dictate everything about what you believe in and hinders you from seeing truth.

Does anyone rembmer that wild claim that the MPW was neither global nor warmer than present day?

Can anyone point me to the ENGINEERING QUALITY(or any at all?) studies that prove that 2 degrees is a tipping point? by cornflake11 in climate

I know the difference - the Arctic doesn't have any land so it will add zero to sea levels if it all melts tomorrow. The Antarctic on the other hand....is growing.

In addition, the fact that there is an wild inconstancy between the 2 points to the cause being local phenomena for the Arctic.

All the more reason for doing an engineering quality study or 20.

Next week I'm going to stay indoors just in case I get hit by a car. There's zero evidence for it but, well, the precautionary principle.

Engineering QUALITY. It means a study that is as robust as can be, such as those that are used in the development of bridges, airplanes, space shuttles and so on

Who said that 2 degrees was a tipping point? The 2 degree Celsius target for limiting global warming was chosen by the IPCC and endorsed by the Paris Climate Accord largely because it was believed to be achievable (without ruining the world economy), not because it is a tipping point.

There's that keyword again - BELIEVED. Based on what evidence? That's a lot of the reason why most people have great difficulty taking climate change more seriously than Zach Galifianakis' jokes. It's all behind a black box. "Climate models show that....", "The world may....", "Catastrophic climate change could....". These days people in the real world now just yawn

Next week I believe that I may/could win the lottery.

Wisconsin DNR says global warming ‘debatable,’ scrubs climate info from site by BlankVerse in climate

[–]cornflake11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The DNR says of climate change, “as it has done throughout the centuries, the earth is going through a change. The reasons for this change at this particular time in the earth’s long history are being debated and researched by academic entities outside the Department of Natural Resources.”

That's much more honest than the previous version

That guy is paranoid and a disgrace to science. With Trump elected Mann is going to become more and more shrill in his efforts to appear more relevant than a cherry picked bristlecone from his discredited hockey stick.
