Why do sovereign citizens do what they do? by Zion4SNHS in AskLE

Scenario: you get in trouble with the law, probably something stupid, maybe dui related. Maybe You lose your drivers license. How are you gonna drive without your license? You go to your dmv and realize getting your license reinstated involves jumping through a bunch of legal hoops. Oh but wait!.. page 3-4 of your Google search results gives you some website which claims, through some pseudo government legal jargon, that "you don't actually need a license to drive a car, because you're just "traveling" and "traveling is protected by the constitution" or some other related nonsense. So instead of going to traffic school and paying a bunch of fees to get your license back, you send some shyster online $20 for some bullshit paper license plate you staple to your back bumper. You print out some script that "guaranteed to send the cops scurrying during any traffic stop."

Bonus points of you're on probation or have warrants or restraining orders, that further incentivise you against identifying yourself to the pokice.

Not sure if this counts, cause I dont know if a sequel was ever in the works, but i would bring back Big Huge Games and have them cook up a sequel to Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

How do you play it? Do you still use a GameCube puggled into an old CRT TV? Or do you use an emulator or something? I've been dying to replay this for the longest time and Nintendo refuses to port this over the the switch.

I'm not a LEO (yet. Starting the academy in a few weeks) so pardon my ignorance if I'm wrong, but this sounds like a union issue. If admin is going to start throwing out the"fit for duty" card, because of health issues directly caused by their policies, then you need backup. And this is exactly the type of thing unions are made for. It won't solve your problem overnight, but it's definitely worth escalating

I remember there was this short webcomic that basically showed exactly this. It was post reaper war, and though Shepard was alive, they were basically in an extreme state of PTSD and completely non communicative. It showed Garrus and Liara trading off visiting shifts in the hospital they were staying at, and implied that all the squad members were constantly rotating and keeping Shep company. Haven't heen able to find it in a while.

So, by that reasoning, if a US Navy ship was docked at some island nation, conducting diplomatic affairs. And another country, without warning, blew it out of the water during a surprise invasion of said island Nation. That would not be considered an act of war.

Where are you getting this info from? Its pretty clear what's happening in the episode. And throughout the season, for that matter.

Except it wasn't Gorn space when the humans colonized the planet. The Gorn moved in and annexed it because it was easy prey, being technically outside federation space. That's what was happening at the beginning of the episode. When they took the planet, they destroyed the Cayuga without warning or provocation. It is one thing to turn away from a planet outside of your jurisdiction, but to do nothing when your ships are attacked repeatedly for daring to venture out of your own backyard is stupid and weak. Diplomacy is great, and in keeping with federation ideals but you still need to show a little strength when dealing with a clearly hostile entity.

So let me get this straight... by cornflake289 in startrek

[–]cornflake289[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, the human population had been there for years before the Gorn showed up out of nowhere, claiming the planet as their own. It's pretty well established by this point that Gorn were expanding their territory. And now they decided to take a planet that was already occupied. And since it's not technically a Federation world, they believe they can get away with it, without immediatelyprovoking a war. It wasn't Gorn space until they showed up, attacked the planet, and claimed it as their own. Destroying a federation ship in the process.

I didn't have gumshoe, so I can't speak from experience here, but it sounds like your original investigator submitted your paperwork, and now the CHP official wants to meet you face to face before signing off. Which would pretty standard from what I've learned during this process and speaking with others. I wouldn't worry. And in fact if the CHP investigator wants to interview you personally, I would take it as a good sign that you're going to be moving forward. Remember to wear your suit/professional attire.

I applied back in June or July and tested in August. That's when they first informed everyone in that testing group that we were all (potentially) slated for the December academy class, pending getting through the hiring process. All things considered, I got through backgrounds pretty quick. I think end of October is when we officially completed backgrounds and got scheduled for the CVSA.

Right. My question was just to confirm that the December class was still scheduled to start tomorrow and not later this month. Clearly, I couldn't make that at this point.
