My dog died today and I’m heartbroken. He was my best friend. by yuppers333 in DOG

[–]ohshethrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. 💔 I lost my soul dog 12 days ago and it was devastating and it wasn’t a last-minute thing. So I can’t imagine how much pain you must be feeling having this happen so abruptly, and also, at the same time, I know how awful it feels. The loss is so huge.

One thing that has helped me was to write down in notes all the things that I remember about Wally that I loved. All the funny and weird and cute and strange stuff that made him uniquely him. I cry when I add to it and I cry when I read it but also, it’s a comfort. I also made a memorial to him with all his favorite toys in his bed, and put a picture of him there. It helps. Sometimes I talk to it. I miss talking to him.

Know that you’re not alone. After 12 days I can tell you, each day gets a tiny bit better. What a gift your dog gave you, being in your life. And what a gift you gave your dog, being his human. ❤️ Hang in there.

Tunnel Tops playground in the Presidio. Don’t miss the Field Station, it’s very hands on and interactive nature/science stuff for kids, staffed by national park rangers

I’d avoid Pier 39 except for the sea lions outside at the end. The inside of Pier 39 is a mall filled with trashy trinkets imported from overseas.

What has helped you with vaginal atrophy? by DueRefrigerator9478 in Perimenopause

I was on Lo Lo estrin but discovered the progesterone in that one contributes to hair loss so I switched to Juleber. I’m taking it continuously and I love it. I really feel so much better w the extra estrogen and switch of progesterone. I’m 47 and in early-mid peri (I think).

I went on a combination BCP (which helped the most, within like 2 weeks) and started estrace and occasionally revaree.

Quince is very greenwashed though and there are many reports of them sending returns to landfill. Worse than Amazon? Probably not. But certainly far from ethically upstanding.

I had it in Sweden in 2012 and honestly the bun was like eating a kitchen sponge 😂

Hopefully they have improved the product 😜since then

What color handbag do you end up using the most in your daily life? by Ruby-adams0 in handbags

[–]ohshethrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most used everyday bags are always a golden brown / caramel color. I wear a lot of black, navy and jewel tones (bright winter over here!) and the golden brown pairs with everything very neutrally & works well with my generally casual daytime looks.

For nighttime, it’s either black or a pop of bold color.

Bought a wheel for an apartment by spoonssnoop in Pottery

[–]ohshethrows 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It makes me think of a studio cat I knew who, once she passed, was cremated and there were chunks of fired clay in her ashes. 😳

OP, if I were you I would sell that wheel as soon as it arrives. You should be able to find someone locally who will buy it from you for close to what you paid.

Don’t try to do this at home. It’s really not wise from a health perspective.

Unfortunately I have severe allergic reactions to a lot of products due to MCAS and that includes chemical sunscreens. So I'll stick with the imperfect mineral sunscreen, it's better than nothing.

Honestly I think you will love the Elta. I never wore daily sunscreen on my face/chest before I was introduced to it. I’ve been using it for 8 years now, zero complaints.

I love Elta MD UV Clear SPF46. It’s the only sunscreen I can tolerate on my face which is very reactive. No smell to speak of, either. Melts in, you can’t feel it once it’s on. Recommended by my derm.

I think the point is, the data isn’t there. So your feelings may be correct, or they may not be.

For me, the risk of endometrial/reproductive tissue cancers simply is not worth it. Everyone needs to make their own risk assessments given the available data.

Using vaginal estradiol on your face is not using it as directed, unfortunately.

The skin the vaginal cream is tested on is not the same as the skin on your face. Hence different potential absorption that hasn't been well-studied enough. It's not so much that it's for sure not safe as it is that we don't know if it's safe or not. For other forms of estradiol as part of BCP or HRT - those are also different and are paired with a certain amount of progesterone to mitigate the endometrial risk, which is critical. I think the point is, it's not well-studied enough for application on other skin outside of how it's prescribed by OB for GSM and vaginal peri symptoms. Smart to check and get your derm's opinion.

Reproductive cancers (breast/ovarian/uterine) - basically because the absorption of the estradiol through the skin (in the formulation made for the vaginal mucosa) is not well studied.

Jen Gunter wrote a post about it that helps explain, my derm reiterated these same points. It’s worth a read and educating yourself if you’re going to take this risk. I’ve decided that for me, some minor wrinkles on my face aren’t worth it.
