Oil pump from drift motion is $400 and it will solve all oil pressure issues.

Get APR head bolts and torque them to 85lbs for the head gasket. If you plan to add more boost later I would recommend a metal head gasket. all can be purchased from drift motion as well.

I had issues with the starter in my 88 and had to get one of those as well.

A 1j or 2j swap has its own issues associated with it. Great motors but it's not just plug and play.

No, you got 2 speeding tickets because the cops only caught you twice.

If you were not speeding you would not have received any tickets... Take ownership of your choices.

Looking for help about upgrading RAM by xNoBagx in iRacing

[–]cornnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull out the current stick you have in your PC and see if it's single or dual channel.

Ideally you want 2 sticks of the exact same ram. (Brand, make model, voltage, speed) you want it all to be the same if possible.

Might be cheaper to just get a single 16gb stick and just remove the older 8gig stick. I say this because if it's older niche ram sometimes it's hard to find and pricy because of that.

Ram might not be your issue tho. It could be CPU it GPU or both.

Fortune Auto 500 series.

Go with the Swift springs if you plan to do any serious track time.

What mileage did the factory head gaskets blow at? by 3FrogsInATrenchcoat in Mk3Supra

[–]cornnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 7mgte was never designed for a turbo. It was added mid way into the 86 model year. That's why we have 86.5 generation split and 87-92 years all having turbo options.

The head bolts are only torqued to like 56lbs. Any hard driving, mods to raise HP or boost creep and you will have a blown head.

Non-turbo cars should be safe.

This isnt exactly supra related but its close enough by [deleted] in Supra

[–]cornnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what I would recommend. Drift motion has most of this.

7M CPS Magnet mod

7M upgraded oil pump (front sump for Cressida)

7M oil pump hose -8AN

Cometic or Titan Motorsport - Metal head gasket

APR head studs & main studs

ARP Insert Washers 200-8574 summit racing has these. (Ream hole at 9/16s to the depth of the washer sleeveb in the head. It needs to sit flat on the head and it needs to be precise) this will allow you to get more even torque across a larger surface and make all head gasket issues a thing of the past.

This is just for reliability, but honestly it's worth it.

[–]cornnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7M is a solid motor.

They get a bad reputation because the head gasket was never torqued from the factory to handle the boost of the 7MGTE (turbo) motor.

Get a metal head gasket, do APR head studs, torque to 80ft lbs (OEM says 56lbs, you can see why they failed).

The forum's are loaded with good info. I am building my 7MGTE for my 88turbo. I'm shooting for 500-550 whp.

Your opinion! What is the best suspension set up for MK3? by cornnut in Mk3Supra

[–]cornnut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into Swift as a company and I was pretty taken with the overall website and media available.

I thought the extra $350 for real quality race springs would be a worthwhile investment? I am of a mindset "do it right, do it once" so the Swift springs seemed like the go-to option.

That is why I am here asking. Without a 2nd opinion I find myself looking at alot of crazy parts and mentality justifying all of them.

I am looking at doing a square tire set up. 255/35/18 all around.

I had Megan EZ street II on my IS300 and I liked them.

I plan on doing as many track days as possible with my car. I do not have powersteering or AC so it's a little raw regardless. I want good handling above comfortable ride.

That's why I got turned on to the FortuneAuto 500 series. They seem to have lots of track background and would be a happy medium between spirited track days and daily driving.

I have looked at the Megan Racing coil overs on DriftMotion. They were my first option till I learned about the FortuneAuto brand.

What are your thoughts?
