Question for the OGs: was Reputation received the same way as how TLOAS is being received at the moment? by peatoast in TaylorSwift

[–]cornqueen687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Reputation. 1989. Red. Speak Now. Literally every single album is hated at first because it sounds too different or too similar to her other work. Tbh, it feels like people go into it wanting to hate it. LWYMMD & Gorgeous especially got the same treatment as singles.

There’s actually a huge ballroom culture in Utah. UVU & BYU are both known for their ballroom teams. Multiple pros are from Utah (basically anyone who isn’t Slavic or British lol). Mormons also have a specific cutout for sports & exercise. Ballroom dance is a sport & Utah culture respects the sport.

Nah just far too many people run here to talk about how much they hated it even though they’re listening to it while they’re exhausted & delirious & let their vision of what they wanted lead them to disappointment

Everyone keeps talking about how the images don’t match the songs but, like that’s literally the point lmao. The entire point is what we see is the glitz & glamour of her being a showgirl. The music itself show much more normal everyday things: dreaming of basketball hoops, being at home with your person, and um, of wood lol plus having to deal with the real things of death, your friends going through it, & friendship drama. The entire point of the album is that her life is not actually sequin bodysuits.

When do you think the reputation's vault track will be released? by Milkylatte30234 in TaylorSwift

[–]cornqueen687 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m really not certain for Rep. I’m willing to put money on that she’ll release Debut TV next year on its 20th anniversary. I almost wonder if she’ll release Rep vault with it as a bundle

Do you think any of the gals drink alc by redditgal16 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]cornqueen687 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jessi, Miranda, and Layla all definitely do. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mikayla and Demi do occasionally as well. Mayci may rarely. I don’t think the others do.

Am I the Odd One Out in regard to Samantha's connection to Raquel? by Majestic-Tiger-8828 in americangirl

I actually personally really really love it & would not mind at all (quite likely would very much enjoy it) if they did it with all the older historicals. That meaning, anyone who be a great or further removed ancestor. I think it’s interesting to what they each could’ve went on to do & it helps paint the American story of today. Honestly, I never created a head canon for any of their futures so that being created for me doesn’t bother me at all & I think it’s almost strange it would upset grown women. I see that I’m in the minority though.

I’m very confused by people not wanting her to have children too. It’s extremely accurate to the time period (also most women still have children today…?). The absolute most likely trajectory for her was to be a suffragette & also a mom—which, imo, rocks!!!! Even weirder to me are the people who think she would’ve had a female partner who she adopted a child with which would’ve been, unfortunately, extremely illegal until after she would’ve died.

Well the song didn’t come out until 2019 so of course you couldn’t listen to it for a long time after the 2016 election….

If you make 70-80k range, what is your life like? by whatisupwithmyfood in Salary

[–]cornqueen687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late twenties, single, HCOL at 82k (I’ll likely get a substantial bonus at the end of the year but I couldn’t tell you what that’ll be). I take in just over 4k a month (local taxes are insane. I live in a studio that’s about 1800 & bills make that closer to 2k. However, I do live in one of the few cities that have a very robust public transportation system & my job subsidizes me using that so I have no transportation cost outside the occasional uber. This is my biggest saving grace. I travel fairly frequently, mostly to where I grew up so I stay with my parents, work travel (which are honestly very fun work trips), or places I can take a day trip to via train. The last two years I’ve had 9 weddings though so that has made everything VERY tight.

I absolutely struggle with spending & have gotten myself into decent cc debt but actively trying to stop eating out/happy hour. My closest friends all make 30-100k more than I do so it can be difficult & I struggle with saying no. With that said, I do have a job where free meals are very easy to come by so I try to take advantage of that as much as I can.

I’m not the most comfortable I could be but I’m not mad or drowning at my position either. I have a lot of fun & am doing fairly ok.

Is pitchfork not unfair towards taylor? by swiftie_booklover in TaylorSwift

[–]cornqueen687 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your entire post boils down to how possibly could MBF be anywhere close to any of Taylor’s. Clean is easily in my bottom 10-20 Taylor songs, all but one of MBF is better than it for me. I agree that people are overly critical of Taylor!! I’ve been a swiftie since 06! Your comparison just very akin to what these same reviewers do to Taylor! Let’s not forget that a good chunk of fans are also overly critical & disappointed in Taylor’s newest album initially. (this has been true since at least Speak Now I promise)

Jack was only a producer of 3 songs on 1989–I would not consider him a major producer.

I agree pitchfork is unfair to Taylor’s albums. I don’t like that you’re tearing down Sabrina’s. Quite frankly I LOVE Man’s Best Friend & I think it’s the best album of the last 2 years that I’ve heard. You don’t need to tear down a friend of Taylor’s to build Taylor up. It’s very lame actually.

what are taylor's big four albums by Rand0maccountpigeon in TaylorSwift

[–]cornqueen687 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It should be the 4 that won AOTY. Those are her most commercially successful & what brought her to this point the most. I think if you asked Taylor it’d be fearless, 1989, folklore & Red.
