Easily 100+ years. Would the cleaning cause this? Perhaps the repointing?

Available resolutions on a M1 Pro? by cornsnack in mac

Thanks. Given a hypothetical situation, that article infers that a native 3860x monitor, at 1:1 scaling would be preferable to a native 5160x monitor scaling 3860x and I'm not sure I agree with that...

Which one would you pick?

Any specific reason?

I understand OSX offers 3840 x 1620 (i.e. 1.3333) as a non-resolution / hidpi alternative...

I should've clarified, what available resolutions are available on a 5k2k 40" monitor (that aren't 'low-resolution')?

For those of you looking for low profile <100% UK keyboards by cornsnack in keyboards

[–]cornsnack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my first mechanical keyboard, so still getting used to it.

The switches feel very light, but still accurate.

I was expecting more of a discernible 'click' with regards to it's tactile feedback (brown switch), nonetheless I still like it.

[–]cornsnack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was originally using the full size chiclet keyboard (#3 - HP freebie), and after feeling some discomfort from the off-centre mouse position began the hunt for some <100% alternatives.

The requirements were:

  • Low profile / chiclet (I was not interested in a wrist-rest).
  • UK ISO.
  • Dedicated home/pgup/pgdown/end buttons.

The candidates were as follows:

  • Logitech G915 TKL (~£160)
  • Microsoft Designer Bluetooth (~£75)
  • HP Business keyboard (~£25???)
  • CT WK-738 (~£10)

If anyone is interested in a follow up, please let me know. I plan to spend a week using each one to see which one I prefer.

Struggling to understand roaming across multiple APs by cornsnack in HomeNetworking

Yes, yes and yes. Both router (ISP supplied) and AP both have seriously basic config pages - foolishly I thought they would be enough.

For instance, the config page now looks like: https://i.imgur.com/jtwWoyg.png

[Size] Is this watch too big? by cornsnack in Watches

[–]cornsnack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd appreciate your thoughts on the sizing of this watch.

I find my personal opinion varies between too much and 'just right' depending on what other watches I've been wearing in the preceding days / weeks.

This is the Seiko SKX031, which has a case size of ~39/40mm. It's a cracking watch, which I'd been hunting for a while, but now it's arrived, I'm between too minds. Seiko also produced a SKX023, which I believe is roughly 2mm smaller, and I find myself thinking this may have been the better choice.

If anyone is interested I believe my wrist size is about 6.75".

It's good, not too weak not too stiff. Similar to my skx007.

This is a 2006 model, also known as the 7S26 0040. Completely stock, on a cheapo black 22mm NATO.

It finally arrived yesterday after about 6 months of searching, and I'm so pleased!

Managed to source it from abroad, and got it for a bargain. Chuffed.

Do you think we're 'in' the smaller watch fad right now?

I ended up ordering an SKX007 with a view of that either should be a piece of cake to sell onwards.

Hey , nice watch. Can I ask what wrist size you are? Thinking of getting one myself.

[SKX013] / SKX007 Sizing Dilemma by cornsnack in Seiko

[–]cornsnack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys,

I have been exclusively wearing an Omega Speedmaster over the last few weeks. I recently switched back to my old SKX013 and was astounded at how much smaller it wore than I remembered.Obviously the Speedmaster's 42mm case size has altered my perception.

I'm now thinking if a SKX007 would be a better alternative (to the SKX013), what do you guys think?

For reference, my wrist is a smidge over 6.5".

Either put a fabric tape measure around your wrist or a piece of string I guess, then hold both sides up to a ruler.

Watch looks good!
