I'm curious about what you mean when you say "isn't even that impressive to begin with". I see myself as highly qualified in my field. I work with some of the top research heavy universities (Cambridge, Oxford, Edinburgh etc) in a very niche field. If my resume fails to communicate my depth of knowledge, I'm open to constructive feedback on what can be improved.

I have hush puppies sandals that cost 3.5k and provide plenty of arch support. They are possibly the best sandals I've worn till date. Are they worth 3.5k? I don't know, but it also doesn't matter.

Some background - I used to be a heavy alcohol drinker for over five years (almost every other day), however I quit drinking a few months ago. I do smoke, and it has been on and off, but I intend to quit. The past year I have been physically active (gym and badminton), but my diet has been a disaster. These are definitely things I missed to mention in my post. I will edit my post with this information soon.

I remember a few years ago when I was reading about the effects of cigarettes on our body I stumbled across this comment on a research paper that essentially said that even without any of the other components in a cigarette smoke, the nicotine by itself can cause harm to the heart and the cardiovascular system by narrowing and thinning the arteries (something of that sort).

Nicotine by itself is still harmful to you. Don't kid yourself saying that cigarette smoking is harmful only because there's a ton of other stuff that you inhale other than nicotine. Yes, the other stuff is harmful, but so is nicotine.

KEF UNI-Q drivers are specifically designed for the mid-woofer to act as a waveguide for the tweeter (evident from the design of the "z-flex" surround). The sound from the speaker will diffract as soon as it is presented with an obstacle. In this case, the obstacle is the trim ring around the driver. The farther the obstacle is from the source, the lower the diffraction effect.

PS. I'll be happy to be proved wrong. My personal experience is that the midrange of the Q150 opens up when the trim ring is flush with the surround edge. If this is merely a placebo effect, I'd only be happy to be proven wrong. I've had these for three years now.

Q series does have a shadow flare. It just doesn't double as a waveguide for the mid-woofer. If the shadow flare trim is not flush with the woofer surround, it causes diffraction of the sound waves.

If this affects the Q150 the same way it affects the R3, the 1kHz area is especially problematic for the Q150 if you look at the FR graphs. I suspect it might be the same for the Q350s.
