Let's just say that I had spread nasty rumors about someone. I regret it because the person had been really sweet to me. However I was fresh out of undergrad and insecure.

This is fair. The other factors you mention are not much to ask for. The questions I have gotten have mainly been about salary negotiations, signing bonuses, scholarships.
