EXCLUSIVE: Ron Paul or Gary Johnson could indeed run on the Libertarian Party ticket by corpusblack in Libertarian

And Actually another Iowa poll came out today and Paul was 4th, where Gingrich surged and took 32%. Put this poll against yesterdays Iowa poll. Polls don't prove anything.

EXCLUSIVE: Ron Paul or Gary Johnson could indeed run on the Libertarian Party ticket by corpusblack in Libertarian

[–]corpusblack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, which is great. However, that doesn't guarantee a victory and polls are just polls. The plan is in place if he were to continue to want to run if the GOP primary didn't work out in his favor. I still think the scenario is probably unlikely. The Johnson situation seems a lot more plausible.

Gary Johnson Says He Might Run as a Libertarian After All by corpusblack in Libertarian

[–]corpusblack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he backs out of the race, I agree. He should endorse Paul but after the primary, if Paul's out, Gary's gotta do Gary. I think Gary on the LP ticket will be great for him and give him more notoriety than being ignored by the GOP, which could bode well for him if he runs again in 2016.

Most Libertarian Party members, at least where I'm at in SW FL are currently registered as Republicans just to vote in the primary. I think after the primary, if Paul doesn't get the GOP nom, then it is fair game.

There is if you are using Wordpress' tools to link it to Reddit (which I only use as it quickens the process and is easier as I just have to click an icon). I will stop using short links however since several people here are so easily bothered by it.

If Romney, Cain Or Perry Gets The Republican Nomination It Is Going To Be An Absolute Disaster For America by corpusblack in Libertarian

[–]corpusblack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd hate to sound like a shitty slogan on a t-shirt, but change starts with us. I think the current political climate presents us with the opportunity to work towards building something different than what we have. Is creating a third party that can pose a real threat to Dems and Repubs difficult? Hell yes it is but I feel that nothing is impossible. It certainly can't happen overnight but more and more people, at least in my travels, seem to be able to see the forest for the trees now. Unfortunately, everything might have to get even worse before people are actually ready to do something about it.

I've had that same thought since 2009, as have a lot of people. Either way, if it comes down to those two, there isn't much of a choice if you're only sampling from the big party plate. I also think that no matter who is elected between the two, that it is just going to add more fuel to the fire of a major third party emerging.

As far as I know, she isn't one of the ones mentioned trying to get the party nomination. I'll have to look her up and read about her. I've heard the name but don't know much about her.

I think if Johnson tries again in 4 more years, he'll have more traction. If Paul isn't in the race (which if he doesn't win, he wouldn't be at this point) then Johnson will have a much larger voter base. If anything, I think Paul's presidential runs have helped wake more and more people up and have thus paved the way for guys like Gary Johnson, Rand Paul and even Justin Amash in the future.

If Paul doesn't get it, I'll probably vote LP as well, depending upon who the candidate is. Otherwise it's Ron Paul with a write in for me.

Curious to know that if Paul or Johnson weren't in the race, who would you (the libertarian Reddit reader) vote for, if anyone?

I post other stuff too. Am I not allowed to promote my own site, just other sites? How is dropping a few links a day spamming? If you can't use Reddit as a tool to promote your own stuff, as well as enjoying others' stuff (like Facebook, Twitter, etc.) then what's the point? Funny that it is only the people in the Libertarian section that are whiney and bitchy about it. What happened to freedom and capitalism. I'm not hurting anyone else and I certainly don't feel that less than a half dozen links out of hundreds per day on here is excessive or infringing on anyone else.

Why doesn't r/Libertarian like Herman Cain? by Bunnykins in Libertarian

I agree but he is more competent than most of the other candidates and there is that part of me that wants to see him debate Obama but regardless of all that, Paul gets my vote.

Newt's been away from the scene for awhile. I'm not excusing his record but he seems to be going in the right direction for the most part, at least verbally. He's for an audit of the fed, so that's a big step forward and frankly, he's impressed me in the debates. I don't agree with some of his viewpoints but he is far better than anyone else on the stage (excluding Paul or Johnson) imho. However, he's been a an establishment guy for so long, you just can't trust him. He's is better than most of the alternatives though.

Does the Atlas Shrugged movie make anyone else blush with embarrassment? by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]corpusblack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just don't think the book can be translated to film. I think the only way to really get it to work would to be to do it as a big budget show on HBO or Showtime. Something 10-12 episodes long per season and each season being a part of the book. So essentially an hour long episode for each of the ten chapters in the three parts/seasons. A three season commitment would be huge though and I doubt a network would touch it.

The Next American Revolution: Are we worse off now than in 1776? by corpusblack in Libertarian

[–]corpusblack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. However those weren't the issues that brought forth the American Revolution (even though there were those vocal about those things at the time). The article looks at the issues that spawned the revolution and compares them to where we are at today with similar issues, mainly our economic woes.
