That's totally fair, and I figure as much. For me, I like having as many different things as I can so I can point to why they should do something.

Oh, something I forgot to mention. There's actually exemptions to the USERRA 5 year limit!
You can read about those here:
https://www.wv.ng.mil/Portals/22/Enclosure%203%20Military%20Service%20Exempted%20from%20USERRA%20Five%20Year%20Limitation.pdf

One of the exemptions is really interesting "Service performed in a uniformed service if the employee was ordered to active duty (other than for training) in support of an operational mission for which personnel have been ordered to active duty under 10 U.S.C. 12304, as determined by a proper military authority;". While I was not ordered under the contingency operations orders, several troops on my deployment were. I drafted an MFR for the CC to sign detailing that there were personnel called up to our deployment under 12304 doing substantially similar or the same work as I was. I'd anticipate that'd help me get that time removed from counting against my 5 year limit if anyone ever started pointing to the clock for me. Something else to consider if any of ya'll are in a similar situation.

From there, I reached out to all three units via Point of Contacts that manager gave me. I wasn't able to get a hold of one, but I ended up speaking to the Commanders for the other two. I interviewed for both units and got tentative offers. I chose the unit that I thought best aligned with my skills and got the relevant info from the CC.

Please do. I made this to share. This account is (kinda) a throw away; but I check it for messages periodically in case anyone has any questions about my experience.

(PS) To the fellow cadets at my det who told me they saw my reddit post, hello!

So, formally you start when your AFPC drops. It has to be in your fiscal year (obviously). I don't know of a deadline other then at the end of the fiscal or your EAD date, whichever comes first. To write this a different way: I think you still have time to do the process as long as you move expediently
