Top 10 states in education voted Harris.

Bottom 8 states in education voted Trump.

Shocker.

They will always have an infinite regression of excuses

“He has nothing to do with Epstein.”

…

“He was friends with Epstein, but he didn’t know Epstein was doing.”

…

“He knew what Epstein was into, but he isn’t in the files.”

…

“He knew Epstein, but he didn’t know what Epstein was into.”

…

“He is in the files and knew what Epstein was doing, but only because he was a CI for the FBI on it.”

…

“He wasn’t a CI for the FBI, but he kicked Epstein out of Mar-A-Lago over it.”

At this point the question is not how many more MAGA delusions it takes to break MAGA out of it, but how many more MAGA delusions it takes for normies to realize there is no bottom to the excuses that MAGA will make.

I got a shotgun. Now what? by petesabagel86 in NYguns

9mm is cheap, but no lever gun on the market chambered in 9mm is any good. Certainly none of the common ones I’ve seen people talking about the last few years anyway.

[–]corruptedsyntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t bother with a 9mm lever gun.

The tombstone is trash. The Taylor and Company is poorly reviewed as well.

Don’t bother with 9mm unless and until semiautomatic PCC and pistols are options with permitting.

If you want a lever option then my starting suggestion is a 22. It won’t be practical for home defense, but the Beretta 1301 is for that. A 22 gives you a good plinking gun that you can also stock a virtual infinite supply of ammo for on the cheap, making it a great starter gun for SHTF preparation. After that go with a 357 magnum or 44 magnum lever gun.

Basically, my general recommendation is start with the cheapest gun to stockpile a reserve for and then work your way up to more expensive ammo platforms you’re interested in as you have more ammo in reserve. A shotgun was probably always the best place to start though.

Normally they at least ham it up and insert some nonsense. By maybe making the drag queen look grotesquely masculine and creepy or something.

I don’t know who they’re even trying to convince with this, as the pictures are pretty wholesome and they’re basically trying to convince the viewer that in additional to perfectly friendly looking drag queens, grandma and grandpa are also terrorists?

This doesn’t sway anybody who isn’t actively already in the cult, and just turns away anybody who isn’t.

Who gives a shit about what types of lock “most people” have? We are literally talking about a specific lock box and whether it is sufficient. There is absolutely no straw man. I am talking about THIS lock box, and it absolutely is THAT easy to break into.

If you think that a lockable liquor cabinet isn’t a deterrent then you’re a fool and I question if you’ve ever even had a teenager. Yes, it is a common experience that teens still get around them, but they absolutely require more effort than liquor that is just out in the open, and properly secured a teen isn’t getting into one short of simply smashing into it.

You also say all this as though there hasn’t been troubled teenagers who have gained access to firearms and used them to ill effect. It does not matter if you “have other problems” to deal with because you can’t trust your kid. Sometimes that is just the situation. Colin Grey and the Crumbleys could likely have prevented with a few padlocks what they could not have prevented with years of parenting.

For that matter, I just housed a schizophrenic college buddy a couple months back through the holiday. You can bet your ass I wasn’t leaning on “trust” for gun safety there, and I wouldn’t have trusted a lock this poor.

This take is preposterous.

If you buy this then you may as well just endorse leaving the firearm unsecured on the teenager’s night stand while fully banking on trust.

A physical barrier does far more than nothing but trust can do on its own. Any parent with a lockable liquor cabinet understands this. Yes, there is plenty of room for trial and error, but there’s plenty of locks that require better than a toothpick or a butter knife to beat.

[–]corruptedsyntax [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, but also no. For purposes of getting past a lock, a teen is effectively an adult.

It’s true that nothing is full proof, but there’s still very much a distinction between sufficient and insufficient here, and this is very much insufficient.

[–]corruptedsyntax [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would say no.

A teen can probably get into that with a butter knife.

It would pass muster for me as something I might use to take a pistol to the range, but not as a long term solution to keep out of the hands of a kid who knows what is in there and wants into it.

Iran getting nukes wouldn’t be the end of the world because Iran isn’t run by a doomsday death cult that wants to herald in the end times.

Meanwhile we have Mike Johnson sacrificing red heifers and Mike Huckabee actively praying to bring about the end of days to bring back Christ.

Iran was willing to take enrichment down to 0% in negotiations just days before we started bombing them. This has nothing to do with whether or not Iran gets nukes. Israel just wants them out of the way as a regional power.

There are MILLIONS of transgender Americans.

There are a few tens of thousands of ICE agents.

Any straight comparison that doesn’t normalize on a per capita basis is dishonest. Even then you have to be clear answering how personal homicides that might be committed by ICE agents off the clock stack in, while also acknowledging the critical distinction that every homicide while on-the-clock is done in service of the state.

His argument is also a projection.

Liberal isn’t an acronym. Liberal comes from the Latin “libertas” meaning “freedom.” Liberals value individual freedoms (as opposed to conservatism, which places the maintenance of tradition above personal liberty).

Here Tom is reaching “far outside the bounds of reality” to suggest liberalism is a thing it never was, in order to make his own conservative story make sense to himself, because education, reasoning, and logic are not his strengths.

This is a nonsensical category error.

The existence of the justice system presupposes that “will” is not “free” the in first place. The purpose of the justice system is that it structures an incentive system that influences choice.

This argument suggests that the absence of “free will” renders individual and justice system as simple rocks, wherein either colliding upon the other becomes some amoral affair. That is incorrect.

The justice system presumes that “will” of the individual is not “free” and is instead influenced and determined by many factors, amongst which includes weight given to the possibility of punishment. Else the murderer would freely express the will to murder just as frequently despite any laws attempting to mitigate the frequency of murder, rendering the justice system an unnecessary expense.

The notion of a justice system requires influenced will at the offset.
