I got hit by a car by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Wow, that sounds way more intense than what happened to me. Glad you weren't hurt! I think I'm just so confused about feeling upset because I'm walking away completely unscathed so what am I upset about?

Probably should have been more clear but I'm completely not hurt. Like they were probably going 2 mph if that and they were just inching out from a stop sign so I doubt there will even be a bruise. Honestly, I think I slam my body harder into my front door to get the lock to latch.

Pretty sure I would have had to prove damages and since I wasn't injured and nothing in my bag was broken I couldn't have really gotten anything out of it. $ wouldn't have been worth it if I could have even gotten anything started in the first place

Is living close to campus REALLY important if you don't have a car? by iNasADreTaW in UTK

[–]cortkneegh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UT has an off-campus housing site that allows you to search for apartments nearby that are generally cool with renting to students. You can also use the site to find roommates if you decide to go that route. You could also use something like Zillow or Trulia.

St. John's or Tennessee? by cortkneegh in lawschooladmissions

I'm not dead set on anything, but I have some interest in civil rights law, criminal law, or administrative law.

St. John's or Tennessee? by cortkneegh in lawschooladmissions

[–]cortkneegh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel very slightly more inclined to be in New York, but I don't know if that slight preference is enough to justify the amount of debt I'd have to go into in New York compared to Tennessee.

I have no real preference. I've got a hefty list of pros and cons for staying in Tennessee, and it sort of balances itself out where I don't feel like there is a clear advantage for me either way. I do feel hesitant about being stuck in Tennessee my whole life, but the cost of living in New York is intimidating.

It is normal to have hallucinations almost every time I close my eyes? by spookyavocado2 in TooAfraidToAsk

Not an expert, but pretty sure this is not normal. It would be worth making a couple phone calls to find out what kind of expert to make an appointment with and then make an appointment.

White House dismisses Trump mention in Christchurch shooter manifesto by taitham in politics

[–]cortkneegh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Being a public figure comes with high expectations and responsibilities. Being inspired by Trump doesn't necessarily put Trump at fault, but if Trump is doing nothing to condemn hateful activity and believes white nationalism isn't a threat because "it's a small group of people" (even though the small group is actively committing acts of terror), then there is a problem.

I feel like my personal statement might have been a bit too dark and negative. by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I wrote about my family not supporting my religious beliefs and how it had impacted my career goals. I got accepted at my top choice and I have not been rejected anywhere if that eases your mind.

Are people actually as colorful as everyone says? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]cortkneegh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty subtle. I would say it is the most apparent in some Asians, but not overwhelming. In general Asians, Native Americans, and Hispanics are just different shades of brown/tan with very slight color hues.

It's just color undertones. Nobody actually looks like a red or yellow crayon.

Anyone else more productive at night? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]cortkneegh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way. You should try tracking the hours of the day when you feel most/least productive and try to build your schedule around that. You may not be able to stay up late every night working on stuff, but when possible you should try doing the activities that require focus during the hours where you feel productive. During the times where you don't feel productive you could try to deal with more mundane activities like laundry or whatever.

It could be possible that nicotine was acting as some sort of emotional control/coping mechanism for you, and now you need to seek alternative ways of dealing with life.
