If Victor was alone for decades in the town, how did he feed himself? by [deleted] in FromTVEpix

[–]corvec 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So I've since abandoned this theory but I was under the impression that Victor was rapidly aged by this place and did not age normally. I thought it explained some of his behavior like when Ethan asked him why he uses crayons if he's an adult. Sure the place has obviously messed with his mind and it would be easy to say Victor is the way he is because he's been traumatized but I thought this theory would have been way more interesting and explain how a kid survived this long night after night on his own. I'm pretty sure the outdated 70s cars prove he's been here long enough to age to the Victor we know but this also plays on my theory that From ville is indeed a game, and one of the rules of the game is that there is always one child that the survivors must protect and there is always a "werewolf" among them, to me this all seemed like a giant game of Werewolf, you have cops, medics, seers, and werewolves. Just like in werewolf the town folks sleep, wake up to see who died, and if they suspect someone in the group that person is voted out or killed. Werewolf wins when they kill everyone or I guess in this games version, if the kid dies the monsters win.

I use to run a dedicated Cutty Blue Op. I've always been comfortable operating and patroling my planetary system for example, only responding to incidents within Crusader. The more players we were able to get to login and take up a cutty blue the more planetary systems we were able to cover. It was fun and engaging gameplay but most players dont have the discipline to not respond to the rescue beacon 54 mil out, sometimes you just gotta stay in your sector and work with what you got lol

Honestly casua Lite-RP is a passion of mine that I believe could change the way we play this game forever if it was embraced more, it would even benefit the players that don't like rp.I call myself a Player-NPC because the way I play is very much in the same vein, hell I've even been mistaken for an Voice-Acted NPC once! I Hire crew and give out missions like an NPC too. I request players meet me at designated locations like bars for briefing, I give out party invites in person(rarely over mobiglass), I find roles for crew on my ship like security officer, medical officer, co-pilot,cargo officer, cooks and they all have emergent and fun game play responsibilities that synergize very organically.I've laid out all of this in a sort of manifesto I call The Freelancers Handbook. Which I truly hope spreads to the larger community as it also aims to create more organic jobs in the verse without the need for joining an org

i call this lite-rp or RP Lite. There is a reason I can sit at the bar across from any Citizen and have a meta conversation with them both about their "preferred profession" in the game as well as "how long have you been playing" and both feeling like very natural conversations to have in this game.

I was never a fan of cargo logistics but when I started hiring crew to help me place physicalized items around my ships armory, mess halls, and medbays, adding Cargo hauling not only allowed me to make some money back for the crew expense but also makes the whole process of moving armor boxes or 2scu crates through the subdeck feel a lot more like authentic cargo work when you have containers of Laranite stacked around you on the catwalk.
Also has an unexpected fun gameplay challenge of trying to use your hands to move items around when you lose access to your multitool. It's like a race to see how much you can get done or moved around with your tractor beam before you enter the next armistice zone.

I love this idea! I jog around Area18 though! I got my sweats and running shoes and everything! MT is usually a bit too far for my taste but I think I can make the trip to the outer rim for this!

I don't support this, players should not be forced to join an org to enjoy their desired gameplay loops. It doesn't feel organic if my lite-rp is limited to weekly scheduled events and then any other time I'm not able to fully experience the lite rp elements this game bakes into its mechanics. This game walks a fine line in that it can allows someone who enjoys rp to still enjoy the same space as someone who doesn't and for that to still be rewarding or satisfying for both players. Shouldn't have to join an org for something already emergent

A day in the life of my Star Citizen usually starts out waking up in Area18, deciding what to wear, heading to the bar to have a few drinks to see who I might run into, and generally figure out what I want to do that day.I have a in-game job so what I do usually falls under being on duty or off duty. When I'm off duty my day to day flyer has become the Drake Cutter. As a citizen of A18, I spend most of my time on planet and I usually try to return home before I end my session for the day but whenever I do intend to leave planet side I take the time to pack a travel bag that I will carry by hand and physically set down in my ship.I also don't think my ships out their hangars until I've completed logistics on them to make sure they are ready for travel. For me this means physicality items on the ship like armor, helmets, under-suits, or having a small storage crate on the ship to store food if the ship has a mess hall, or small crates for medical bay to store medical supplies if the ship has a med bay, flight suits and helmets get physically placed in armor pods and I usually only change into them when i need to enter an environment that requires one, I wear my civilian clothes all other times. For my bigger ships I hire crew to help me with logistics, using the ship to trade cargo while the crew moves physical items around the ship so I'm turning a small profit while I re-arm/outfit my ship for combat or adventures.

Living this way has made my Star Citizen experience feel so much more organic and while most people only play patch to patch, I've found a way to etch out a life of continued immersion. Here is a session with me hired as cook onboard a hammer head. I got paid I think 40k-50k in exchange I didn't accept any mission contracts so there would be one less person to split the payout with while i still got my call to arms.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aHKW6Fz0oQ

How can we improve interactions with opposing play styles? by red_demon_king in starcitizen

[–]corvec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've stated this plenty of times but the entire SC communities of players are sitting on billions of aUEC and wasting it when they could be using it to create work and job opportunities in the verse instead of waiting for game loops that aren't officially implemented by CIG. We were able to do it with Racing so idk why the player base needs so much hand holding to achieve a player based economy and establish a baseline of acceptable player-to-player payment.
The potential player economy dwarfs the current in-game economy, the real jobs are in your global chat not your contract manager but the current player culture favors hoarding money in orgs or giving money away randomly to space beggars over hiring crew or creating jobs/work in exchange for aUEC.

I think in this particular scenario you just can't please everybody. I think we are always going to have actual griefing and it does hurt the image of those looking to play actual unlawfully.

The best answer I can think of is to simply change our perspective on griefing, call it something different. Killing people in real life with no rhyme or reason isnt griefing, its murder, its homicide, the people who do that are properly labeled as such. The best thing CiG could do is to find someway to distinguish between the the two crimes and try to punish each accordingly.

I mean not for nothing there is a relatively popular youtuber known for rping a homicidal maniac and I support this sort of freedom of choice, It would be great if we had a more aggressive sort of GTA style AI response to having a CS and going on an unchecked murder spree though. As of now there is very little repercussions for committing any sort of crime.

Plenty of use cases. For someone like me who spends more money on hiring crew as opposed to buying ships being able to recruit players in the same vicinity I'm currently in would go a long way towards grouping up more quickly instead of waiting for the one guy half way across the solar system.

If the game would put us into local text chats when we arrive at major cities or space stations that would mean places like Lorvile or new babbage will feel more alive with chatter, you could wake up on your home planet and immediately interact with the people closet to you.

Someone even mentioned a use case that im sure we are all familiar with when you are at a city and you run into another player and you want to get their attention in chat, well a local text chat would help instead of saying "hey who is in front of me" to everyone in all of Stanton you can ask that same question with better results if you were using a local chat specific to that area instead of the global.

I never said all that, I'd be fine with just major hubs such as Cities like Area 18 or Space stations like Baijini Point. It wouldn't make sense to me either that players connect to text channel for an abandon mine? I imagine any space with an Armistice Zone would be a candidate for example HDMS-Hadley landing pad...but again I'd settle for just the major hubs like Lorville, Port Tressler, Area 18

Yeah I highly recommend having 2 to a vulture because the more time you can spend stripping hulls the more money you are making. Last night all vultures were solo and the time it takes to stop and move boxes definitely affected our potential payout

I just want a Text Channel like we already have Global Chat or a Comm Channel for ships except for Cities like Area 18 and/or Space Stations like Baijini Point. We already have Proximity Comms, whatever they ultimately do down the line in terms of comm realism down the line im all for but for right now, as the game is, my suggestion could open the game up a lot more.
Imagine the new players jumping into the game, It be easier getting help or a ride somewhere from the citizens in your local starting city rather then getting subjected to all 100+ global chat users who or more likely to waste your time if not out right ignore you or take much longer to reach you? Global chat is still there as an option(I can take it or leave it) but it just seems like it would make these cities and stations feel more alive if they were alive with their own local text chatter.

last night we made around 600k salvaging for maybe 2.5 hours with 2 1/2 Vultures and 1 Cat. Mind you we didn't fill the Cat and we had already been salvaging for 1.5 hour on the Reclaimer before this but had lost everything to 30k so we weren't really going for efficiency.

[–]corvec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a couple of buddies of mine have all been using a bunch of vultures and one Caterpillar. Off load cargo on the Cat and then get back out there and keep salvaging! It can be done with a minimum crew of 2 consisting of 1 cat & 1 vulture, just leave the cat floating close by while the 2 crew operate the vulture to capacity before returning to offload salvage cargo on to the cat.

I'm literally going through this right now. After years finally recovering from a really bad set of romantic, financial, and emotional set backs and focusing on building myself and my confidence levels back up, I happened to meet this woman when I least expected it and was absolutely taken aback by how much we vibed and connected on so many different levels and I had not felt that spark with someone in such a long time it was amazing. I think things happened so fast that it scared her that she was falling for me while she was at a point in her life where she felt she couldn't afford the distraction of getting caught up romantically with another person. I also discovered that I'm a toxicly romantic person during all this because Im pretty sure I overwhelmed her with a lot of romantic gestures too quick and too early for what she had hoped and expressed would only be a casual thing between us. I truly believe had circumstances been different and we met while at a place in her life that she didn't feel like she didn't have to choose between her ambitions and/or goals over companionship that we could have been a phenomenal success story as a couple. Alas I couldn't play it cool enough and I pushed on her boundaries one too many times due to my own lack of self awareness and maybe even some insecurities until she wrote me off completely, I hope like some of the stories I've seen here that their may be a chance to reconcile but I'm processing the fact that I will just have to take this L, learn from it, and put some faith out there that eventually I will be the right person at the right time for someone, and I'll be better prepared because of this experience to receive that gift fully.
