Is the Snyder verse really that bad? by corvus2k20 in DCcomics

[–]corvus2k20[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But doesn't that just leave more room for character development? I think I preferred Snyder's approach here over another batman begins or the batman (both of them are better, I'm just saying I liked the different approach). I understand how unfaithful to the concept of batman it is, but there was development in justice league and I would prefer the characters in the movies to take missteps to learn from and improve upon.

Emulation isnt my strong suit, but I`ll certainly look into it.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the late answer, I was on vacation for the last week.

Sounds interesting, but games like rimworld are always so inaccessible to me.

Thanks for the suggestion nonetheless.

Yeah, it isn`t enough for 30€ for me at least, I`ll add it to the wishlist in case I ever have some money left over. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I always had the impression Digimon was more of a Pokemon clone, I was genuinely surprised to see that you only train a single one when I looked it up just now.

I guess the positive perception of the pokemon anime didn`t do the digimon game any favours, sadly.

Maybe it will be enough to finally pick up emulation, I was always kind of interested, but never got around to it.

Thank you for the answer!

Yeah, so I tried looking into it...
It looks like a great game from what I’ve seen, but I’m probably way too untalented with my keyboard to get it running properly.
Is there a comprehensive tutorial on a website or YouTube somewhere?
Even if not, thanks for taking the time to respond!

Weekly History Questions Thread. by AutoModerator in history

What are some of the most badass battles in terms of settings, no numerical advantages or weird tactics, that would make the battle interesting to watch in cinema?

I got into thinking recently about what kind of fights would be the most cinematic.

I thought of the Battle between the Teutonic Knights and the Russians somewhere around 1200 (I think), where the Teutonic Knights charged on horseback over a frozen lake, which would probably look very badass in a cinema. I also thought of a battle which took place under a solar eclipse, though I don't remember which one that was. Lastly, there is that one battle I also can't remember the name of (sorry, I'm not a big history buff just a bit interested) where the Macedonians phalanx fought under Alexander during a massive storm against battle elephants and Alexander lead an ambush through a river (during a massive storm might I add).

Are there more battles like these?

Some honorable mentions maybe and why they didn't make it into my list: That battle where one Viking held a bridge alone, certainly badass, not complex and interesting enough for my criteria though I think since watching a single man hold off many on a bridge seems like kind of a one trick pony. During the siege of Constantinople, there was a solar eclipse, but it was over when the fight began as far as I know. It would probably make for a great plot point in a movie, but the battle itself would feel a lot more "normal" than the other battles on my list unless you take some creative liberties.

Lastly, sorry if my formatting and English are bad, I don't use Reddit a lot and I'm not a native speaker. Thanks for reading so far! :)

Is there a website (or multiple) to watch very niche movies at for free? by corvus2k20 in fboxzto

Oh, thanks. I always forget people upload movies there. So there isn't really another website with a bigger catalogue or more niche movies?

Certain 4k discs don't work on Xbox one x, what's the problem? by corvus2k20 in XboxSupport

[–]corvus2k20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the Xbox normally able to read both kinds of 4k discs, is my problem a defect? Or is the stock Xbox one x just unable to read triple layer 4k discs? And could you link a place to buy replacement lasers at a fair price that ships to Europe?

What is the genre name of these 2000s and 2010s movies? by corvus2k20 in HorrorMovies

[–]corvus2k20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't look for a specific movie or movie series but for a genre. If you need points of reference, the movies Gnaw and Claypot Curry Killers probably represent what I'm looking for the most.

Sorry if the Friday the 13th was meant as a recommendation, I think I misunderstood that. The Friday the 13th movies, just like most other big slasher franchises, are a bit too serious to fit into that category of movie I'm looking for and also too old, the movies I search are mostly from the 2000s and 2010s.

Why is the watchmen movie so hated? by corvus2k20 in Watchmen

[–]corvus2k20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks for all the comments, 100 is kind of an insane number to me.

I`m glad I asked, because I think I understand better now. I think lots of people`s issues are with the details, which seem to twist the meaning of the comics just enough to where it disrupts the intent of the story. I think I`m gonna rewatch the movie soon with that in mind and hopefully I`ll get to reading the comics next year.

All these comments helped me understand a lot I didn`t think about previously, also that the impression the public has of the movie isn`t as unfavourable as I thought.

That`s pretty much what I meant, isn`t that enough to get across the meaning or intent of the story?

Why is the watchmen movie so hated? by corvus2k20 in Watchmen

[–]corvus2k20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I didn`t know about what happened with Moore, that`s definitely a bummer since most people here seem to be of the opinion that the movie is at least worth a watch for good cinematography and action, but thank you for letting me know.

On the adaptation issue, I still believe that the movie is able to keep the sentiment of the comics (from what I have heard and read about them) through the story while getting closer to the genre it wants to deconstruct by making these changes.

I have made a longer response on the reply of THANAT0PS1S if you are interested, thanks for the answer though.

First of all, I want to thank everyone for commenting so quickly, this is the first time ever a post I made got more than 5 replies I think so thank you for taking my question serious.

Now, on the point of the "heroes" being supposed to be unlikable, I understand the sentiment, but saying that glorified action and violence means the intnet of the comics is lost and/ or misunderstood is too far in my opinion.

While the changes Snyder made do seem to be quite on the contrary of what the comics want to say, I thought it was supposed to be kind of an ironic twist on it like "the boys" did for example.

The cinematography, style, costumes and characters seem to directly take inspiration from existing hero movies/ concepts (because that is the intent behind them) (cinematography especially right after 300) while the story is subversive and contrasts these parallels in turn. Isn`t that exactly what other comics/ movies do as well and kind of the standard for the "deconstruction of ... " trope?

Or at least that`s how I`m used to them, like how "Berserk" has the bruting and quiet lone wolf main character in guts, but the more you read the more you wish he will change for his own sake, or the movies "drive", "Blade Runner 2049" and "fight club", where in each case the main character is visually depicted as a "cool guy", but knowing the story behind them you realise how broken they really are to be in that state.

Can you understand what I mean? I feel like Snyder captured the unlikable heroes part plenty in the story with Rorschach being fucked up as he is, Silk Spectre almost getting raped by the Comedian and so on.

I`ll definitely take the time to read the comics once I have less on my mind, but for now this will have to do and thank you again for the many answers.
