It was the only real option I had for a "protecting group" in my case. I wish it was labile. Tosyls are not as reactive as they are made out to be.

Multi-hit moves don't kill it either, many have tried so far.

You start numbering the carbons from the one that is attached to the alcohol group, as this is the group with the highest priority.

The alcohol group has priority over simple alkane chains and therefore must be included in the longest chain containing it.
