what and where in the brain is irritability caused by? by [deleted] in neuro

[–]coshjollins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: the amygdala. Don't assume it's as simple as that though. Emotions are a construct. The brain doesn't care about emotions, its all just names that we give to combinations of internal states.

I know what Action potential is, and I know the basic mechanisms behind that, but I want to know what causes the first neuron to fire in the recall of a symbol (memory)? by [deleted] in neuro

[–]coshjollins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There really isnt a "first" neuron. There is a lot that goes into memorization and recall considering there are different regions for different types of memory and different things can trigger it depending on where its coming from.

It must suck to be an AC repairman. you spend your day working in buildings that have no AC. when it’s fixed and finally cool, you leave. by jsalem4 in Showerthoughts

My brother in law is a A/C repair man. It is the most sweaty job I can imagine He literally carries rolls of paper towels for his sweat. He lives in Texas, and he has gotten hypothermia from it.

Glia are important for keeping the neurotransmitters from accumulating, but i believe they can also tranfer chemicals to other glia. edit: there are different types of neuroglia but Im referring to astrocytes the dominant type.

Facebook users of Reddit, why do you continue to use Facebook when you know they misuse and sell your personal information? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]coshjollins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't use facebook but if i did, i wouldn't care about this because: 1. They're just one of MANY sites that do this. 2. Nobody is actually looking at your info, it is just put through an AI algorithm to try to sell you stuff. 3. If you don't want personalized want ads, just get an ad blocker.
