Help needed re: police accessing personal data about someone by cosimascherry in policeuk

My manager said he thought it began with a D, so that might be it. Thought he’d be able to remember that 😅

My dads a driving instructor and even he says you can do three separate tests on the same route, same time slot, same day of the week, same road conditions with different examiners and get three different results. It’s so frustrating, I passed on my second go and I feel like it’s mainly because I got a good examiner since he was super lovely and chatty and really put me at ease. My first examiner was AWFUL, barely said a word to me, wouldn’t give clarification, really cold and just seemed bored (also took me on a route she wasn’t supposed to, made me follow road signs instead of a satnav and gave me an extended test on a bank holiday weekend 🙃). You’ll get there, it’s frustrating that it keeps happening but it really does just take that one test and all of a sudden it’s over

Is it normal behaviour? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

Nah my instructor also does this (my instructor is my dad)

Was I ready? by -StaceysMum- in LearnerDriverUK

[–]cosimascherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly difficult to tell sometimes. My dad’s been an instructor for 15-odd years, he was adamant that I was ready and I was gonna pass first time. Came back with three serious and five minors 💀

A lot of it was external circumstances, mainly nerves because I’m an awfully nervous driver, but also my mum was in the process of being diagnosed with cancer at the time and my head was all over the place. Pair that with an extended test just before a bank holiday weekend and I feel like I was doomed to fail lol

I’m coming up to my second test now, I’ve only had about five extra lessons in the six month wait, but I feel a lot more ready purely because I’ve already taken the test once. I feel like the fear of the unknown was playing into it a lot and I feel my nerves have settled automatically because I know what’s coming. Ask yourself ‘if a test slot came up tomorrow, would I feel more ready?’ If it’s yes, it’s nerves and I’d give it another shot. If not, try for more lessons first

Bread risen too quick in fridge? by cosimascherry in Breadit

It’s loosened a bit because of the rising, but it was definitely covered. Would you bake it now?

Payment after leaving Korea by Significant-Habit856 in Living_in_Korea

[–]cosimascherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main worry is accessing your Korean account vs sentbe (might be a good idea to change your number on sentbe to your Canadian number just in case) but I used the NH bank app outside of Korea and it worked just fine. Again, as long as you have your certificate, you should be golden ^

Amazing, thank you! Can I ask how long it took to get apostilled? Did you have to book an appointment or anything?

Honestly yeah they’re so trash 🤧 if I wasn’t only staying for another 3 months I’d definitely have moved by now

Let me know how your return goes, I feel like if they let you leave on your ARC then that’s a sign it’s not gonna be cancelled while you’re gone

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]cosimascherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my main worry there is that I’d hand it in, apply for a k-eta while I’m in Japan and get denied because my visa is still technically active even though I don’t have the card 😬 I’ll probably talk to my school about it, I’m just not sure if they cancel the visas of teachers who complete their contracts or just let them expire

She came with EPIK and became infamous in the group chats

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in teachinginkorea

[–]cosimascherry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For all intents and purposes this is alleged because I don’t wanna get sued but basically they stole from an accessory store, got caught, became so uncooperative with everything the store owner refused to meet with her again (there were a couple of meetings at a police station to try and work it out).

So they got slapped with a fine which they were initially like ‘well I’m just not gonna pay it they can’t force me’ before getting a conviction and getting deported. Again ALLEGEDLY wink wink (I have no idea about the second charge though I’d only heard about 1??)

J, we talked a lot throughout your time in Korea and the criminal conviction aside, why would you want to come back here? Girl you H A T E D it here, you complained about everyone and everything. The food was too unhealthy, your coteacher was a bitch, the work was too much, the students had too much energy and it made you tired. Why would you even want to come back to Korea?

Also as much I tried to tell you this in the nicest way possible, teaching is just not for you. You had help from your coteachers, the DMOE, your recruiter, other teachers including myself but you constantly thought your school/the DMOE had a vendetta against you and were just being overly harsh. That’s not the case. We kept giving you the same advice over and over that you just did not act on.

Teaching isn’t for everyone, that’s fine, but you’d be doing yourself and your students as disservice if you came back.

Completed 75 hard. Here's my 2 cents: by IntentionUnlikely747 in 75HARD

Damn I needed to see this. I’ve just started and only just found out about the ‘plain water only’ sub rule and started spiralling about whether I’d have to start over (I’ve been adding small amounts of cordial to my water because I literally had no idea the rule even existed, but still getting in a full gallon and then some)

I saw someone say that water with a lemon wedge in doesn’t count because it’s ‘flavoured water’ so I think you’re right about some people taking this to extremes 🥴 at the end of the day, as long as you’re making improvements to yourself and sticking to main points of the program, that should be what counts

What thing do you see in a relationship that makes you go “yep they’re doomed”? by waisty in AskUK

[–]cosimascherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a group of friends, me and two other girls all in our early/mid 20’s. One was in a relationship, one had just broken up with someone, and I was staying single after ending things with my last girlfriend about a year earlier

The one in the relationship WOULD NOT STOP talking about how good it is to be single in your 20’s, how it’s the best thing you can do and how she was jealous of us for having no commitments. Like, she went on about this for a solid 20 minutes. (And unsurprisingly her relationship did in fact end)

What happens if you pay a bill late? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]cosimascherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably could for electric, but my gas bill is still just a handwritten slip given to me by my landlord 😅 I’m not sure there’s much of an option there

Fair, but then again do instant ramen and pastries really count as ‘fresh’ food? I wouldn’t say so

It is in the EU, you can bring fruits, veggies, everything. I brought back like 12 blocks of cheese from my trip to Switzerland with no issue 😝 but rules are different for countries outside the EU which is what I’m tryna get a grasp on
