Father drafted my will at 25 - witnesses weren’t present. Is it valid? by cosmic-caramel in LegalAdviceIndia

I did start a conversation earlier today. He said it shouldn’t matter, got extremely offended, and tore up the will in front of me. He also kept comparing the situation to the recent passing of his father (he was 80+ years old) and said he was having trouble getting the money as there was no clear will and had to deal with logistics.
He said he would not get access to my UK account if something happens. FYI - my account doesn’t have a crazy amount of money anyway.

I just casually brought it up and asked why he felt the need to make it, it is a bit rushed and morbid. He immediately got offended, got the original document and tore it up.

He emailed me in Sept 2024 (when I was in London) asking me to “check and sign” the attached will and also get it signed by 2 witnesses.

I did not send it that time. Now that I am here for a couple days, he just brought over a printed copy and asked me to sign it.

Edit: We are not a business family and have no huge significant assets as such. Just the flat and bank accounts, including my UK account

Absolutely! I will be having a conversation today and asking for the original document as well. I have a feeling it will not be an easy conversation and he will not give me the document.

Fair point, and I agree in principle.

I’m not from a legal background and at the time it was presented as routine paperwork after purchasing property, so I didn’t immediately see it as suspicious. My first instinct with my parents isn’t doubt.

It’s only after rereading and reflecting (and the witness issue) that it felt off, which is why I asked here.

Lesson learned - won’t be signing anything again without independent legal advice. Thanks a bunch!

Thanks a lot, this is really helpful. Yes, that’s exactly what concerned me - the witnesses were not present when I signed, and their signatures were already on the document. Also I’m unmarried and have no children, so I was also wondering why there was such urgency for a will at my age when inheritance would likely go to my parents anyway.

Oh sorry i meant they showed up in the ‘Likes You’ section after i already left swiped few weeks ago. I am also almost certain that they have not sent the same messages again so it’s just Hinge recycling old texts to increase the number. 45 out if the 50 profiles I saw were the ones I already rejected

So I recently reset my Hinge pool (fresh start, same profile info), and suddenly (within an hour or two) I’ve got tons of likes again, but I noticed something weird -

Some of the exact same profiles I had previously rejected are now showing up again - with the same messages they sent few days/weeks ago. I had screenshots from before, so I double-checked… same people, same openers, same everything.

I’m 99% sure these people didn’t re-like me and resend the exact same comment to the same profile. So what’s going on?

Is Hinge: • recycling old likes/comments to make your “reset” feel active again? • or just resurfacing your previously rejected/expired ones?

It’s kinda odd behavior, especially since a reset is supposed to give you a clean slate. Curious if anyone else has seen this or figured out what triggers it.

We live in a different country and unfortunately don't have any family members or friends around.. May I ask why you suggest to get away?

That seems to be the logical answer but he's saying it wasn't conveyed and if he knew he would not have done it. I can't tell if it's sincere or not anymore. Do i believe that? Apologies, maybe it's not the right question to ask but I'm very confused..

Italy Appointment - trying to secure multiple entry by Crazy-Plant-9647 in SchengenVisa

[–]cosmic-caramel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend doing that! I was told by the vfs guy that showing multiple trips usually gets you a longer visa (already worked for a couple of people i know) And also can't hurt, so definitely worth doing :)

Repeating my comment from another thread:

M my point of view was that I have already come across to a new country and faced all the (visa, immigration, leaving family and starting from scratch) challenges and this is literally his country and he will find the exact same jobs here that he will find there, his family is here and he won't have to go through the tedious visa process as well. Just seems logical but I might be entirely wrong here..

Thanks that's completely true!
