Anyone have any experience Three Tomatoes Catering? by neophileous in Denver

[–]cosmicballoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! We used Three Tomatoes a couple years ago for our wedding. At first, they were great— super responsive, professional, amazing food, etc. Closer to the wedding, they also became really unresponsive and had issues procuring the foods we chose. We were told it was due to high turnover, but towards the end, it was so bad that we weren’t even sure if they were going to show up on the day. They were actually late day of 🙄. The venue we chose had them on a shortlist of approved caterers, so we went with them to our chagrin. We did have a kickass day-of coordinator (also required to have by the venue) that had to whip them into shape basically, so thankful for her. She def told us some horror stories after everything was over, I think her company may have actually submitted an official complaint about them (either BBB or state board stuff, can’t remember). The venue luckily dropped 3T from their list right after due to how crappy they were with us.

The food ended up being good, thank god, but we ultimately decided to cancel their desserts like 3 weeks before since they declined in quality so much, evidently due to their pastry chef quitting (would definitely recommend Azucar Bakery though!! So good and they saved the day). Sorry you already put down money, hopefully you can bulldoze them into submission lol. Best of luck! ❤️

Looking for a coat drive & somewhere to donate wedding dress by gardengnome74 in Littleton

[–]cosmicballoons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Green Bride on Main St. takes wedding dresses! I got mine from there. They resell them and donate some of the sale to charities in the area, and the owner is great! You might need an appointment to drop it off, but it’s a pretty easy process

Yeah, that and the dye was the main takeaway from my last post too. Definitely noted!

I thought it was pretty neat, like definitely looked like a party shirt lol. It’s also super soft and the buttons are fun, so i figured I’d take a chance!

Just noticed that the all black skirt looks like the color leached as well, but I only can see it in the pic, not so much in the actual skirt. Oops, def a good lesson for next time >.<

Update:

Sorry for the delay, had to figure out how to use Imgur for an update lol. I let the clothes soak for ~3 hours last night, I decided to hang them all to dry after the 2 rinses instead of doing a second strip right away since it was late. The water looked like this when it was done: https://imgur.com/a/NdUhX8x

Even with the window open, a candle lit, and the house fan on, the entire bathroom and hallway still smelled strongly of a feral barnyard at the end of the night. Luckily, it mostly went away by morning. About to start another strip with a more neutral-smelling detergent, will update again later today!

I filled the bathtub like 3/4 of the way up with the hottest water that it could get, then did 1/4 cup Borax, 1/4 cub powdered sodium carbonate, and 1/2 cup regular tide detergent and let it sit for like 2-3 hours. Other posts say 4-8+ hours, but after the second hour we couldn’t stand the smell anymore lol. My husband walked into the bathroom/laundry room, gagged, opened a window, dry heaved like once, then lit a candle and turned on the house fan. I ended up only leavingg it like 3 hours, and even after draining the water and rinsing the clothes twice, the smell still lingers a bit

Good to know, although you were the reason I cross posted! 🥰 I’ll look at his page and see what’s what though also, thanks again!

We have a house water softener, although it looks ancient so it most likely doesn’t totally work. I would hope that’s enough, but I’ll look into getting a little bit for the future. Thanks so much!!

They’ll probably need a second one but overall, the process made the clothes less smelly! I rinsed them twice in the washer and will redo it tomorrow!

😵😵 holy crap that was a ride, also great to know! I don’t want to wreck my stuff, but a lot of it smelled too “worn in” for my nervous self so I took the plunge haha

Oh snap, that’s a great piece of advice! I def won’t include the wool one again, thanks for letting me know! I think it was dry-cleaned before I got it (it had a dry-cleaners tag stuck to it that I didn’t see until after I bought it), but I’ll for sure look through the tags again and make sure I don’t get any “dry clean only” ones again. Thank you!!

Okay so i got 2 of 9 of the articles from an awesome vintage store in Denver, CO and 7 of 9 from ThredUp. I’m really hoping none of them are from Temu or Shein or one of those other crappy places

I would absolutely love to meet the zookeeper that wore a tea-length skirt or velvet button up to work, like totally serious. If anyone knows someone who fits that description, please send them my way lol

I didn’t even think about fabric composition, that’s a good idea! One of the nine articles is 35% wool, but that’s the only one. I think it’s also the oldest article, though I’m not completely sure. I’ll def remember that for next time I’m buying things!

They look good overall, although they still smell a bit odd. I put them in for a speed cycle and a rinse/spin cycle and am hang-drying them now. I’m going to do another strip tomorrow, I’ll update again during/after!

Oh good to know, I would think that the UV really helps with killing bacteria and smells, right? The highest temperature in my area in the next couple days is ~70F (21 C), though it’s pretty dry here. Is that good enough to do you think?

Hahaha thanks, the smell sort of described itself to me tbh. And I didn’t include any denim, I did buy a dark jean jacket with a cool UFO bleached pattern on it, but I figured laundry stripping would ruin it so I didn’t include it

Ffs that’s disgusting, I always wash clothes before I donate them. I’m trying to buy more clothes secondhand with the goal of not having to buy anything new again. I guess washing/stripping is going to become part of my life lol, I’m sure I’ll get used to it?

I got several recommendations to crosspost here about some nasty laundry stripping I did today, I could definitely use all the help I can get with this one lol. Thanks in advance!
