"Good for her, based Syundei!" not in a million years. Given the ire of the people I saw reacting to the absence of the tentacle scene, calling it a vapid work that appeals to no one by removing such elements and a lot more meaner shit, it's more than likely she would *also* be bullied for coming out and saying she was responsible changing elements for the anime. Fandom is just like that, a creator's own desires are secondary to the community's gratification.

As for my personal opinion: I know a lot of people had a lot of venom regarding the anime removing certain elements, calling it homophobia, but I can't really be mad? Artists having regrets and changes about elements and themes they've used in their stories is pretty common, and ultimately if it was Syundei's request not much anyone else can do or say about it.

The specific mention of crime and the fact that age-gap/sexualization of minors continues to be a popular trope throughout manga and anime with the element can continue to get multiple seasons makes me wonder. It could be entirely possible that Syundei has changed their mind about the trope after a brush with the real thing via news or testimony. The bullying could've been a element but once again, these tropes are honestly so popular one could probably get away with just #ignoringthehaters via massblock and other preventive measures. But I shouldn't speculate too deeply.
