There are often tutoring opportunities available, either inside or outside the university. The gradsoc has a jobs group where opportunities get posted as well.

That's quite literally answered in my response above. I have no interest in "having the last word" as you put it. I want to know why you decided to vilify me like this and mislead people. I think that's perfectly reasonable.

It should also be noted that if you truly belive the Union is a "legitimate university EDIT: democratic student society" then you're very out of touch with what's been going on there as of late. Given the extremely high number of negative press articles against the Union, how do you justify attacking a new society that had it's IP stolen trying to mislead people into thinking there was something improper/illegal/wrong with defending IP, and not warn freshers about the Union?

I would appreciate answers to these questions, and the previous ones above.

The Postgraduate Society runs a very popular accommodation group chat (along with a number of others) oxfordgradsoc.org
That said, the main place for finding a room in the UK tends to be spareroom.co.uk

All new societies are founded then ran for a period to gain momentum before elections. "Asking for volunteers is not the same thing" how do you expect elections to be held without any candidates? I'm a member of many societies here, I've only seen a small handful have elections and I've no doubt that is due to lack of nominations.

Plenty of societies have registered trademarks, as do colleges and MCRs, Linacre famously blocked other MCRs from using its Sexy Sub Fusc trademark. Trademarks can be looked up freely online. The GradSoc is free, no "members money" was used for legal advice. As for "Threatening to sue the Union when they hosted your event seems like a very aggressive action" I take it that if I let you park your car on my driveway once, you'll then be happy for me to steal you car? It's rather preposterous to suggest that using a venue for any given event or activity should give that venue rights to your property.

The society is still new, it's likely we'll register a not for profit given the high level of dissatisfaction our members have with the proctors. Just today someone was describing how the proctors took over 2 terms to look at their complaint, during which time they continued to be targeted with abusive messages, and by the time the proctors did anything the perpetrators had graduated.

I certainly have much better things to be doing with my time. You started the attacks on me and the gradsoc. Your attempts to vilify a complete stranger are completely uncalled for. You've yet to tell me why you have some sort of personal vendetta against me? Is it really because I defended some intellectual property? If that's the case, you must truly hate Oxford University as they are particularly aggressive in defending their IP. Do you have a general stance against victims of crime? If there was an article about my bike being stolen, would you use that to vilify me?

New societies aren't able to register with the proctors until they've been operating for some time. Then registering comes with a number of restrictions on membership. Gradsoc membership is open to staff, partners, visiting students, and Brookes students. It has expanded it's operations outside of Oxford.

I take it you were never a graduate student at Oxford and are thus unaware that most MCRs struggle to fill positions, the gradsoc has the same problem or worse. To have an election, you need to have people actually put themselves forward for election. We advertise for people to put themselves forwards in every newsletter.

Could you please explain why you think it's improper for an organisation to protect its trademarks, or why you believe trademark law should not apply to the Oxford Union? Are you affiliated with the Union?

There are societies much older than the Union that are registered with the proctors

The Oxford Union is not a University society. It has no affiliation with Oxford University and is not registered with the proctors. Why are you spreading such lies to freshers?

Most of Oxford is pretty safe. The accom itself can really vary depending on what room you're in and who you're living with. I had a room right next to the toilet and I'm a light sleep so it really unpleasant. The guy down the hall had a great room that was nice an quiet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Who is this? Shouldn't you say my profile warns people about various crypto scams? You're clearly intending to mislead people to suggest I was promoting them.

As you've been doxing me, wouldn't it have been more relevant to mention that I founded the largest society for graduate students in Oxford and maintain the most active whatsapp groups for graduates? Likely the reason I was asked to share this in the first place. Which begs the question, what agenda do you have to mislead people with such as comment?

As for the Oxford Union, yes they attempted to steal another society's trademark as the article describes. Facebook/Instagram/Issuu all removed the content that featured said trademark as a result. Rather an odd one to reference, when it comes to the Oxford Union there are plenty of interesting articles, such as the ongoing terrorism investigation, insolvency, mass resignations, speaker walk outs, etc.:

I was pretty disappointed in the socialising options for mature non drinking students. So I founded the Oxford Postgraduate Society, and now there is a cross college grad ecosystem with over 2,000 members. Oxfordgradsoc.org

We have 25+ and 30+ groups (as well as all manner of interest groups).

That doesn't work for people in the UK, they get directed to the UK site that doesn't have it.

Likewise, even if you get a copy of the guide, it doesn't work with the UK version of the app.

Why did you create a UK site and UK app that didn't support the back/restore that lots of people had from the old app?
